John testified about him. He cried out, saying,“ This was he of whom I said,‘ He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.’”

如望揚聲為之作證曰：『予向所言：「有一後我而來、居我之上、原在我先」者、即斯人矣！』

( John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying,“ This is the one I spoke about when I said,‘ He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”)

John was a witness about the Word. John cried out and said,“ This was the one I was talking about. I said,‘ He who comes after me is more important than I am. He is more important because he existed before I was born.’ ”

( John bore witness about him, and cried out,“ This was he of whom I said,‘ He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”)

John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds,“ This is the one I was talking about when I said,‘ Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’”

( John testified concerning him and exclaimed,“ This was the one of whom I said,‘ The one coming after me ranks ahead of me, because he existed before me.’”)

John* testified about Him and called out, saying,“ This was He of whom I said,‘ He who is coming after me has proved to be my superior, because He existed before me.’ ”

John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying,“ This was He of whom I said,‘ He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’”

John beareth witness of him, and crieth, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that cometh after me is become before me: for he was before me.

( John testified concerning Him and exclaimed,“ This was the One of whom I said,‘ The One coming after me has surpassed me, because He existed before me.’”)

John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

John testified about him and shouted out,“ This one was the one about whom I said,‘ He who comes after me is greater than I am, because he existed before me.’”

I indeed baptize you in water for repentance, but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come out to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings out are from of old, from ancient times.

The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said,“ Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!This is he of whom I said,‘ After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.’I didn’t know him, but for this reason I came baptizing in water: that he would be revealed to Israel.”John testified, saying,“ I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him.I didn’t recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water said to me,‘ On whomever you will see the Spirit descending and remaining on him is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’I have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God.”

They came to John and said to him,“ Rabbi, he who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified, behold, he baptizes, and everyone is coming to him.”John answered,“ A man can receive nothing unless it has been given him from heaven.You yourselves testify that I said,‘ I am not the Christ,’ but,‘ I have been sent before him.’He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. This, my joy, therefore is made full.He must increase, but I must decrease.He who comes from above is above all. He who is from the earth belongs to the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.What he has seen and heard, of that he testifies; and no one receives his witness.He who has received his witness has set his seal to this, that God is true.For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God gives the Spirit without measure.The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand.One who believes in the Son has eternal life, but one who disobeys the Son won’t see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”

Now, Father, glorify me with your own self with the glory which I had with you before the world existed.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.The same was in the beginning with God.

He is before all things, and in him all things are held together.

Jesus said to them,“ Most certainly, I tell you, before Abraham came into existence, I AM.”

He preached, saying,“ After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen.

John answered them all,“ I indeed baptize you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire,

saying,“ What you see, write in a book and send to the seven assemblies: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”

who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped,but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth.But the testimony which I receive is not from man. However, I say these things that you may be saved.He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John, for the works which the Father gave me to accomplish, the very works that I do, testify about me, that the Father has sent me.

For a child is born to us. A son is given to us; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

“ Yahweh possessed me in the beginning of his work, before his deeds of old.

When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand on me, saying,“ Don’t be afraid. I am the first and the last,and the Living one. I was dead, and behold, I am alive forever and ever. Amen. I have the keys of Death and of Hades.

He is the one who comes after me, who is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I’m not worthy to loosen.”

“ To the angel of the assembly in Smyrna write:“ The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life says these things:

The same came as a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him.He was not the light, but was sent that he might testify about the light.

Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him.But John would have hindered him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?”But Jesus, answering, said to him,“ Allow it now, for this is the fitting way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him.Jesus, when he was baptized, went up directly from the water: and behold, the heavens were opened to him. He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming on him.Behold, a voice out of the heavens said,“ This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
