children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

To be a child of God has nothing to do with human parents. Children of God are not born because of human choice or because a husband wants them to be born. They are born because of what God does.

They are reborn— not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

Beloved, let’s love one another; for love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

There is no injustice with God, is there? Far from it!For He says to Moses,“ I will have mercy on whomever I have mercy, and I will show compassion to whomever I show compassion.”So then, it does not depend on the person who wants it nor the one who runs, but on God who has mercy.

They answered Him,“ We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say,‘ You will become free’?”Jesus answered them,“ Truly, truly I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.Now the slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever.So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.I know that you are Abraham’s descendants; yet you are seeking to kill Me, because My word has no place in you.I speak of the things which I have seen with My Father; therefore you also do the things which you heard from your father.”They answered and said to Him,“ Abraham is our father.” Jesus* said to them,“ If you are Abraham’s children, do the deeds of Abraham.But as it is, you are seeking to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do.You are doing the deeds of your father.” They said to Him,“ We were not born as a result of sexual immorality; we have one Father: God.”

I am telling the truth in Christ, I am not lying; my conscience testifies with me in the Holy Spirit,that I have great sorrow and unceasing grief in my heart.For I could wish that I myself were accursed, separated from Christ for the sake of my countrymen, my kinsmen according to the flesh,who are Israelites, to whom belongs the adoption as sons and daughters, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the Law, the temple service, and the promises;whose are the fathers, and from whom is the Christ according to the flesh, who is over all, God blessed forever. and like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,

and do not assume that you can say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father’; for I tell you that God is able, from these stones, to raise up children for Abraham.
