children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

To be a child of God has nothing to do with human parents. Children of God are not born because of human choice or because a husband wants them to be born. They are born because of what God does.

For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose.

Dear friends, let us love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

“ We are descendants of Abraham,” they answered Him,“ and we have never been enslaved to anyone. How can You say,‘ You will become free’?”Jesus responded,“ I assure you: Everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.A slave does not remain in the household forever, but a son does remain forever.Therefore, if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.I know you are descendants of Abraham, but you are trying to kill Me because My word is not welcome among you.I speak what I have seen in the presence of the Father; therefore, you do what you have heard from your father.”“ Our father is Abraham!” they replied.“ If you were Abraham’s children,” Jesus told them,“ you would do what Abraham did.But now you are trying to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do this!You’re doing what your father does.”“ We weren’t born of sexual immorality,” they said.“ We have one Father— God.”

I speak the truth in Christ— I am not lying; my conscience is testifying to me with the Holy Spirit—that I have intense sorrow and continual anguish in my heart.For I could almost wish to be cursed and cut off from the Messiah for the benefit of my brothers, my own flesh and blood.They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the temple service, and the promises.The ancestors are theirs, and from them, by physical descent, came the Messiah, who is God over all, praised forever. Your people will volunteer on Your day of battle. In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, the dew of Your youth belongs to You.

Isaac began to tremble uncontrollably.“ Who was it then,” he said,“ who hunted game and brought it to me? I ate it all before you came in, and I blessed him. Indeed, he will be blessed!”

Isaac loved Esau because he had a taste for wild game, but Rebekah loved Jacob.
