children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

To be a child of God has nothing to do with human parents. Children of God are not born because of human choice or because a husband wants them to be born. They are born because of what God does.

They are reborn— not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

Is there injustice on God’s part? By no means!For he says to Moses,“ I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.

They answered him,“ We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say,‘ You will become free’?”Jesus answered them,“ Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin.The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever.So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you.I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father.”They answered him,“ Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them,“ If you were Abraham’s children, you would be doing the works Abraham did,but now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did.You are doing the works your father did.” They said to him,“ We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father— even God.”

I am speaking the truth in Christ— I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit—that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart.For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh.They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises.To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.

Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation—

And do not presume to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.

The children struggled together within her, and she said,“ If it is thus, why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the Lord.

Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments; from the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours.

Then Isaac trembled very violently and said,“ Who was it then that hunted game and brought it to me, and I ate it all before you came, and I have blessed him? Yes, and he shall be blessed.”

Isaac loved Esau because he ate of his game, but Rebekah loved Jacob.

and prepare for me delicious food, such as I love, and bring it to me so that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die.”
