You live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me,” declares the Lord.

Heaping oppression upon oppression, and deceit upon deceit, they refuse to know me, declares the Lord.

因為我呼喚，你們不聽，我招手，無人理會。

光來到世上，世人因自己的行為是惡的，不愛光，倒愛黑暗，這就定了他們的罪。凡作惡的人都恨惡光，不來接近光，恐怕他的行為被暴露。

因為他們恨惡知識，選擇不敬畏耶和華，

我像柔順的羔羊被牽去宰殺，並不知道他們設計謀害我：「我們把樹連果子都滅了吧！把他從活人之地剪除，使他的名不再被記得。」

這惡民不肯聽我的話，按自己頑梗的心而行，隨從別神，事奉敬拜它們；這惡民必像這腰帶，毫無用處。

他們對上帝說：『離開我們吧！我們不想知道你的道路。全能者是誰，我們何必事奉他呢？求告他有甚麼益處呢？』

這耶路撒冷的百姓為何永久背道呢？他們抓住詭詐，不肯回頭。

他們既然故意不認識上帝，上帝就任憑他們存扭曲的心，做那些不該做的事，

你們要醒悟為善，不再犯罪；因為有人不認識上帝。我說這話是要使你們羞愧。

籠子怎樣裝滿雀鳥，他們的屋裏也照樣充滿詭詐；他們因此得以強大富足。

我的百姓因無知識而滅亡。你拋棄知識，我也必拋棄你，使你不再作我的祭司。你既忘了你上帝的律法，我也必忘記你的兒女。

我聽見許多的毀謗，四圍都是驚嚇；連我知己朋友都看着我跌倒：「告他吧，我們要告他！或者他被引誘，我們就能勝他，在他身上報仇。」

他們說：「來吧！讓我們設計謀害耶利米；因為我們有祭司講律法，有智慧人設謀略，有先知說預言，都未曾斷絕。來吧！讓我們用舌頭攻擊他，不要理他一切的話。」

耶和華啊，求你救我脫離說謊的嘴唇和詭詐的舌頭！詭詐的舌頭啊，他會給你甚麼呢？會加給你甚麼呢？就是勇士的利箭、羅騰木的炭火。禍哉！我寄居在米設，住在基達帳棚之中。我與那恨惡和平的人許久同住。
