The LORD who rules over all told me to say to this people,“ Take note of what I say. Call for the women who mourn for the dead! Summon those who are the most skilled at it!”

This is what the Lord Almighty says:“ Consider now! Call for the wailing women to come; send for the most skillful of them.

This is what the Lord of armies says:“ Consider and call for the mourning women, that they may come; And send for the skillful women, that they may come!

Thus says the Lord of hosts:“ Consider and call for the mourning women, That they may come; And send for skillful wailing women, That they may come.

This is what the Lord of Hosts says: Consider, and summon the women who mourn; send for the skillful women.

Yahweh of Armies says,“ Consider, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for the skillful women, that they may come.

and they are afraid of heights and the dangers in the street; the almond blossoms grow white, and the grasshopper drags itself along, and the caper berry shrivels up– because man goes to his eternal home, and the mourners go about in the streets–

Jeremiah composed laments for Josiah which all the male and female singers use to mourn Josiah to this very day. It has become customary in Israel to sing these; they are recorded in the Book of Laments.

Because of Israel’s sins this is what the LORD, the God who commands armies, the sovereign One, says:“ In all the squares there will be wailing, in all the streets they will mourn the dead. They will tell the field workers to lament and the professional mourners to wail.In all the vineyards there will be wailing, for I will pass through your midst,” says the LORD.
