遍地蕭條、恍若沙漠、人蹤罕至、焉得哲人、蒙予啟示、而言其故。

誰為智者、能明此事、誰蒙主諭、能宣示國緣何而滅亡、地緣何而焚燬、成如沙漠、無人來往、

Who is wise enough to understand this? Who has been instructed by the Lord and can explain it? Why has the land been ruined and laid waste like a desert that no one can cross?

Who is wise enough to understand these things? Who has been taught by the Lord? Who can explain them? Why has the land been destroyed so completely? Why has it become like a desert that no one can go across?

Who is the man so wise that he can understand this? To whom has the mouth of the Lord spoken, that he may declare it? Why is the land ruined and laid waste like a wilderness, so that no one passes through?

Who is wise enough to understand all this? Who has been instructed by the Lord and can explain it to others? Why has the land been so ruined that no one dares to travel through it?

Who is the person wise enough to understand this? Who has the LORD spoken to, that he may explain it? Why is the land destroyed and scorched like a wilderness, so no one can pass through?

Who is the wise person who may understand this? And who is he to whom the mouth of the Lord has spoken, that he may declare it? Why is the land destroyed, laid waste like the desert, so that no one passes through?

Who[ is] the wise man, that may understand this? and[ who is he] to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth[ and] is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through?

I said,“ Who is wise enough to understand why this has happened? Who has a word from the LORD that can explain it? Why does the land lie in ruins? Why is it as scorched as a desert through which no one travels?”

孰為智者、而明此事乎、孰為哲人、而知其情乎、耶和華之途乃正、義人必履之、而罪人蹶於其中、

智者注意斯事、思念耶和華之慈惠兮、

沃壤為鹵地、皆因居民之罪兮、

此室雖高、凡過之者、必駭異而嗤笑曰、耶和華曷如是待此地此室乎、則將應之曰、昔其上帝耶和華、導其列祖出埃及、彼乃棄之、歸向他神、崇拜奉事之、故降是災於彼、○

爾以此言示民、彼必謂爾曰、耶和華曷言降此巨災於我儕、我有何愆尤、干何罪戾於我上帝耶和華、爾則告之曰、耶和華云、爾祖棄我、而從他神、服事崇拜、且背我、不守我法律、爾曹行惡甚於爾祖、各徇惡心之剛愎而行、不聽從我、故我必驅爾出斯土、入爾與爾祖所未識之地、爾將在彼晝夜崇事他神、我不施恩於爾、○

其中之先知結黨、若獅狂吼、攫而裂物、吞噬人靈、取其珍寶、以致邑中嫠婦眾多、其祭司干我法律、污我聖物、不辨聖與不聖、不使人別潔與不潔、掩目不顧我之安息、致我見瀆於民中、其中之牧伯、若狼攫而裂物、惟欲流血、殄滅人靈、以獲不義之利、其先知以不堅之泥、為人塗垣、所見虛偽、所占妄誕、彼謂主耶和華言之、然耶和華未言也、斯土之民、用強暴、行攘奪、騷擾貧乏、妄虐羇旅、我於其中、欲覓一人、以築垣墉、為國立於缺處、在於我前、免我殲滅、而不可得、故我傾怒於眾、以我發忿之火滅之、依其所為、報於其首、主耶和華言之矣、

爾曹若云、我上帝耶和華何為以此加我、爾當語之曰、爾曹棄我、奉事他神於爾境、如是、亦必奉事外人於非爾之地、○爾宜佈告於雅各家、宣傳於猶大曰、

多邦之人經是邑者、將相語曰、耶和華如是待此大邑、何故、則將應之曰、因彼背其上帝耶和華之約、崇拜服事他神也、○

爾後世子孫、及彼遠人、見此地之災、暨耶和華所降之疾、又見硫磺與鹽、火焚遍地、不種不產、不生草萊、如所多瑪、蛾摩拉、押瑪、洗扁、為耶和華忿怒所傾覆者、列邦人皆問曰、耶和華何為行此於斯土、其怒若是之烈、果何故乎、人將對曰、其祖之上帝耶和華、導之出埃及時、與之立約、而彼背之、奉事崇拜他神、素所未識、耶和華亦未嘗聽其服從者、故耶和華震怒斯土、以書所載之詛加之、耶和華以氣憤、忿怒恚恨、拔之斯土、投於異邦、有如今日、

讀此預言、及聞而守其中所記者、福矣、蓋時邇矣、○

願其有智、明乎此事、思厥終局、

爾曹見其所行所為、必得慰藉、亦知我所行於耶路撒冷者、非出無因、主耶和華言之矣、

爾觀先知但以理所言、穢惡摧殘者、立於聖地、讀者宜致思焉、
