I have paid attention and listened, but they have not spoken rightly; no man relents of his evil, saying,‘ What have I done?’ Everyone turns to his own course, like a horse plunging headlong into battle.

我傾耳以聽、彼不言正直、無人悔其惡行、曰、噫、我所為何事、彼各行其道、若馬之奔馳於陳、

我傾耳諦聽、人無正直之言、無悔罪之心、而內自訟焉、彼疾行其道、若馬之臨陳馳驅。

我傾耳細聽、聞彼出言不正、無人悔其惡行曰、我所為何哉、彼各仍奔其道、若馬之臨陣馳驟、

I have listened attentively, but they do not say what is right. None of them repent of their wickedness, saying,“ What have I done?” Each pursues their own course like a horse charging into battle.

I have listened carefully. But they do not say what is right. They refuse to turn away from their sins. None of them says,‘ What have I done?’ Each of them goes their own way. They are like horses charging into battle.

I listen to their conversations and don’t hear a word of truth. Is anyone sorry for doing wrong? Does anyone say,“ What a terrible thing I have done”? No! All are running down the path of sin as swiftly as a horse galloping into battle!

I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repenteth him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turneth to his course, as a horse that rusheth headlong in the battle.

I listened and heard, but they didn’t say what is right. No one repents of his wickedness, saying,“ What have I done?” Everyone turns to his course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle.

The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.

And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Because he considered and turned away from all the transgressions that he had committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

The godly has perished from the earth, and there is no one upright among mankind; they all lie in wait for blood, and each hunts the other with a net.

Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed his name.

“ Do you give the horse his might? Do you clothe his neck with a mane?Do you make him leap like the locust? His majestic snorting is terrifying.He paws in the valley and exults in his strength; he goes out to meet the weapons.He laughs at fear and is not dismayed; he does not turn back from the sword.Upon him rattle the quiver, the flashing spear, and the javelin.With fierceness and rage he swallows the ground; he cannot stand still at the sound of the trumpet.When the trumpet sounds, he says‘ Aha!’ He smells the battle from afar, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

“ But when he came to himself, he said,‘ How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger!I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him,“ Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’

I will say to God, Do not condemn me; let me know why you contend against me.

Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, look and take note! Search her squares to see if you can find a man, one who does justice and seeks truth, that I may pardon her.

He sings before men and says:‘ I sinned and perverted what was right, and it was not repaid to me.He has redeemed my soul from going down into the pit, and my life shall look upon the light.’

Now, therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways.

a wild donkey used to the wilderness, in her heat sniffing the wind! Who can restrain her lust? None who seek her need weary themselves; in her month they will find her.Keep your feet from going unshod and your throat from thirst. But you said,‘ It is hopeless, for I have loved foreigners, and after them I will go.’

The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands nor give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk,

He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intercede; then his own arm brought him salvation, and his righteousness upheld him.

Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.
