“‘ Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known,

“‘ “You continue to steal and commit murder. You commit adultery. You tell lies in court. You burn incense to Baal. You worship other gods you didn’t know before.

Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal, and go after other gods that you have not known,

Do you really think you can steal, murder, commit adultery, lie, and burn incense to Baal and all those other new gods of yours,

“‘ Do you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and follow other gods that you have not known?

Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know,

Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods that ye have not known,

“ Do you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and follow other gods that you have not known?

Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;

You steal. You murder. You commit adultery. You lie when you swear on oath. You sacrifice to the god Baal. You pay allegiance to other gods whom you have not previously known.

Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods that you have not known,

“ You shall have no other gods before Me.

if you do not oppress the stranger, the orphan, or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, nor follow other gods to your own ruin,

For your gods are as many as your cities, Judah; and as many as the streets of Jerusalem are the altars you have set up to the shameful thing, altars for burning incense to Baal.

The Lord of armies, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you because of the evil of the house of Israel and the house of Judah, which they have done to provoke Me by offering sacrifices to Baal.

What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is the source not your pleasures that wage war in your body’s parts?You lust and do not have, so you commit murder. And you are envious and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.You ask and do not receive, because you ask with the wrong motives, so that you may spend what you request on your pleasures.You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: sexual immorality, impurity, indecent behavior,idolatry, witchcraft, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions,envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral persons, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.

“ Then I will come near to you for judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, those who oppress the wage earner in his wages or the widow or the orphan, and those who turn away the stranger from justice and do not fear Me,” says the Lord of armies.

Oh that I had in the desert A travelers’ lodging place; So that I might leave my people And go away from them! For all of them are adulterers, An assembly of treacherous people.“ They bend their tongues like their bows; Lies and not truth prevail in the land; For they proceed from evil to evil, And they do not know Me,” declares the Lord.“ Let everyone be on guard against his neighbor, And do not trust any brother; Because every brother utterly betrays, And every neighbor goes about as a slanderer.Everyone deceives his neighbor And does not speak the truth. They have taught their tongue to speak lies; They weary themselves committing wrongdoing.Your dwelling is in the midst of deceit; Through deceit they refuse to know Me,” declares the Lord.Therefore this is what the Lord of armies says:“ Behold, I will refine them and put them to the test; For what else can I do, because of the daughter of My people?Their tongue is a deadly arrow; It speaks deceit; With his mouth one speaks peace to his neighbor, But inwardly he sets an ambush for him.Shall I not punish them for these things?” declares the Lord.“ Shall I not avenge Myself On a nation such as this?

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor those habitually drunk, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

As for his father, because he practiced extortion, robbed his brother, and did what was not good among his people, behold, he will die for his guilt.

Then he said to me,“ This is the curse that is going forth over the face of the entire land; everyone who steals certainly will be purged away according to the writing on one side, and everyone who swears falsely will be purged away according to the writing on the other side.I will make it go forth,” declares the Lord of armies,“ and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by My name; and it will spend the night within that house and destroy it with its timber and stones.”

New gods were chosen; Then war was in the gates. Not a shield or a spear was seen Among forty thousand in Israel.

But to the wicked God says,“ What right do you have to tell of My statutes And to take My covenant in your mouth?For you yourself hate discipline, And you throw My words behind you.When you see a thief, you become friends with him, And you associate with adulterers.You let your mouth loose in evil, And your tongue harnesses deceit.You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother’s son.These things you have done and I kept silent; You thought that I was just like you; I will rebuke you and present the case before your eyes.

They sacrificed to demons, who were not God, To gods whom they have not known, New gods who came lately, Whom your fathers did not know.

This wicked people, who refuse to listen to My words, who walk in the stubbornness of their hearts and have followed other gods to serve them and to bow down to them, let them be just like this undergarment which is completely useless.

And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things.

Listen to the word of the Lord, you sons of Israel, Because the Lord has a case against the inhabitants of the land, For there is no faithfulness, nor loyalty, Nor knowledge of God in the land.There is oath taking, denial, murder, stealing, and adultery. They employ violence, so that bloodshed follows bloodshed.Therefore the land mourns, And everyone who lives in it languishes Along with the animals of the field and the birds of the sky, And even the fish of the sea disappear.

But if you call yourself a Jew and rely upon the Law and boast in God,and know His will and distinguish the things that matter, being instructed from the Law,and are confident that you yourself are a guide to people who are blind, a light to those in darkness,a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of the immature, possessing in the Law the embodiment of knowledge and of the truth—you, therefore, who teach someone else, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that one is not to steal, do you steal?You who say that one is not to commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who loathe idols, do you rob temples?You who boast in the Law, through your breaking the Law, do you dishonor God?For“ the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” just as it is written.For indeed circumcision is of value if you practice the Law; but if you are a violator of the Law, your circumcision has turned into uncircumcision.So if the uncircumcised man keeps the requirements of the Law, will his uncircumcision not be regarded as circumcision?And he who is physically uncircumcised, if he keeps the Law, will he not judge you who though having the letter of the Law and circumcision are a violator of the Law?For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh.But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from people, but from God.

And those who bow down on the housetops to the heavenly lights, And those who bow down and swear to the Lord, but also swear by Milcom,

because of their wickedness which they committed to provoke Me to anger by continuing to burn sacrifices and to serve other gods whom they had not known, neither they, you, nor your fathers.

“ However, he may father a violent son who sheds blood, and does any one of these things to a brother( though he himself did not do any of these things), that is, he even eats at the mountain shrines, and defiles his neighbor’s wife,oppresses the poor and needy, commits robbery, does not restore a pledge, but raises his eyes to the idols and commits abomination,lends money at interest and takes interest; will he live? He will not live! He has committed all these abominations, he shall certainly be put to death; his blood will be on himself.

Then Elijah approached all the people and said,“ How long are you going to struggle with the two choices? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people did not answer him so much as a word.

Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short That it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull That it cannot hear.But your wrongdoings have caused a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.For your hands are defiled with blood, And your fingers with wrongdoing; Your lips have spoken deceit, Your tongue mutters wickedness.No one sues righteously and no one pleads honestly. They trust in confusion and speak lies; They conceive trouble and give birth to disaster.They hatch vipers’ eggs and weave the spider’s web; The one who eats of their eggs dies, And from what is crushed, a snake breaks out.Their webs will not become clothing, Nor will they cover themselves with their works; Their works are works of wrongdoing, And an act of violence is in their hands.Their feet run to evil, And they hurry to shed innocent blood; Their thoughts are thoughts of wrongdoing, Devastation and destruction are in their paths.They do not know the way of peace, And there is no justice in their tracks; They have made their paths crooked, Whoever walks on them does not know peace.

But for the cowardly, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and sexually immoral persons, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

For this you know with certainty, that no sexually immoral or impure or greedy person, which amounts to an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.See that no one deceives you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.Therefore do not become partners with them;

For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self control, brutal, haters of good,treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these.

On the other hand, I am filled with power— With the Spirit of the Lord— And with justice and courage To make known to Jacob his rebellious act, And to Israel his sin.Now hear this, you heads of the house of Jacob And rulers of the house of Israel, Who despise justice And twist everything that is straight,Who build Zion with bloodshed, And Jerusalem with malice.Her leaders pronounce judgment for a bribe, Her priests teach for pay, And her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean on the Lord, saying,“ Is the Lord not in our midst? Catastrophe will not come upon us.”Therefore on account of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins, And the mountain of the temple will become high places of a forest.

And the Chaldeans who are fighting against this city will enter and set this city on fire and burn it, with the houses where people have offered incense to Baal on their roofs and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke Me to anger.

Therefore say to them,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ You eat meat with the blood in it, raise your eyes to your idols as you shed blood. Should you then possess the land?You rely on your sword, you commit abominations, and each of you defiles his neighbor’s wife. Should you then possess the land?” ’
