“ When you tell them all this, they will not listen to you; when you call to them, they will not answer.

爾將告以斯言、惟彼不聽、爾將呼之、惟彼不應、

上帝告先知曰、爾雖有命、民不聽從、爾雖招徠、民不應命。

爾耶利米以此言告之、彼仍不聽爾、爾招之來、彼仍不應爾、

“ Jeremiah, when you tell them all this, they will not listen to you. When you call out to them, they will not answer.

“ So you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. You shall call to them, but they will not answer you.

“ Tell them all this, but do not expect them to listen. Shout out your warnings, but do not expect them to respond.

“ When you speak all these things to them, they will not listen to you. When you call to them, they will not answer you.

“ So you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you; and you shall call to them, but they will not answer you.

“ Therefore you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not obey you. You shall also call to them, but they will not answer you.

And thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee.

“ When you speak all these things to them, they will not listen to you. When you call to them, they will not answer you.

Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee.

Then the LORD said to me,“ When you tell them all this, they will not listen to you. When you call out to them, they will not respond to you.

“ You shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. You shall also call to them, but they will not answer you.

“ This is what the Lord says: Stand in the courtyard of the Lord’s house and speak to all the people of the towns of Judah who come to worship in the house of the Lord. Tell them everything I command you; do not omit a word.

But the Lord said to me,“ Do not say,‘ I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.

“‘ When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen,’ says the Lord Almighty.

I will destine you for the sword, and all of you will fall in the slaughter; for I called but you did not answer, I spoke but you did not listen. You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me.”

When I came, why was there no one? When I called, why was there no one to answer? Was my arm too short to deliver you? Do I lack the strength to rescue you? By a mere rebuke I dry up the sea, I turn rivers into a desert; their fish rot for lack of water and die of thirst.

He said,“ Go and tell this people:“‘ Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.”

The people to whom I am sending you are obstinate and stubborn. Say to them,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says.’And whether they listen or fail to listen— for they are a rebellious people— they will know that a prophet has been among them.And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people.You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious.

“ Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.When I say to a wicked person,‘ You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.

For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God.

He then said to me:“ Son of man, go now to the people of Israel and speak my words to them.You are not being sent to a people of obscure speech and strange language, but to the people of Israel—not to many peoples of obscure speech and strange language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely if I had sent you to them, they would have listened to you.But the people of Israel are not willing to listen to you because they are not willing to listen to me, for all the Israelites are hardened and obstinate.But I will make you as unyielding and hardened as they are.I will make your forehead like the hardest stone, harder than flint. Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people.”And he said to me,“ Son of man, listen carefully and take to heart all the words I speak to you.Go now to your people in exile and speak to them. Say to them,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says,’ whether they listen or fail to listen.”

They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
