Since the day your ancestors came out of the land of Egypt until today, I have sent all my servants the prophets to you time and time again.

From the time your ancestors left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again I sent you my servants the prophets.

Again and again I sent my servants the prophets to you. They came to you day after day. They prophesied from the time your people left Egypt until now.

From the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt to this day, I have persistently sent all my servants the prophets to them, day after day.

From the day your ancestors left Egypt until now, I have continued to send my servants, the prophets— day in and day out.

Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have sent you all My servants the prophets, sending them daily, again and again.

Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have even sent to you all My servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them.

Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day, I have sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:

Since the day your ancestors came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have sent all My servants the prophets to you time and time again.

Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending[ them]:

From the time your ancestors departed the land of Egypt until now, I sent my servants the prophets to you again and again, day after day.

Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt to this day, I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them.

But the LORD, the God of their ancestors sent word against them by the hand of his messengers, sending them time and time again, for he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place.

The LORD sent all his servants the prophets to you time and time again, but you have not obeyed or even paid attention.

You were patient with them for many years, and your Spirit warned them through your prophets, but they would not listen. Therefore, you handed them over to the surrounding peoples.

But our ancestors acted arrogantly; they became stiff-necked and did not listen to your commands.They refused to listen and did not remember your wonders you performed among them. They became stiff-necked and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt. But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love, and you did not abandon them.Even after they had cast an image of a calf for themselves and said,“ This is your god who brought you out of Egypt,” and they had committed terrible blasphemies,

“ Remember and do not forget how you provoked the LORD your God in the wilderness. You have been rebelling against the LORD from the day you left the land of Egypt until you reached this place.

He said to me,“ Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to the rebellious pagans who have rebelled against me. The Israelites and their ancestors have transgressed against me to this day.

From their youth, the Israelites and Judeans have done nothing but what is evil in my sight! They have done nothing but anger me by the work of their hands”— this is the LORD’s declaration—“ for this city has caused my wrath and fury from the day it was built until now. I will therefore remove it from my presence

I took the sinful calf you had made and burned it. I crushed it, thoroughly grinding it to powder as fine as dust, and threw its dust into the stream that came down from the mountain.“ You continued to provoke the LORD at Taberah, Massah, and Kibroth-hattaavah.When the LORD sent you from Kadesh-barnea, he said,‘ Go up and possess the land I have given you’; you rebelled against the command of the LORD your God. You did not believe or obey him.You have been rebelling against the LORD ever since I have known you.

They soon forgot his works and would not wait for his counsel.They were seized with craving in the wilderness and tested God in the desert.He gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease among them.In the camp they were envious of Moses and of Aaron, the LORD’s holy one.The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it covered the assembly of Abiram.Fire blazed throughout their assembly; flames consumed the wicked.At Horeb they made a calf and worshiped the cast metal image.They exchanged their glory for the image of a grass-eating ox.They forgot God their Savior, who did great things in Egypt,wondrous works in the land of Ham, awe-inspiring acts at the Red Sea.

When the time came to harvest fruit, he sent his servants to the farmers to collect his fruit.The farmers took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned a third.Again, he sent other servants, more than the first group, and they did the same to them.

At harvest time he sent a servant to the farmers so that they might give him some fruit from the vineyard. But the farmers beat him and sent him away empty-handed.He sent yet another servant, but they beat that one too, treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty-handed.And he sent yet a third, but they wounded this one too and threw him out.

But the LORD told him,“ Listen to the people and everything they say to you. They have not rejected you; they have rejected me as their king.They are doing the same thing to you that they have done to me, since the day I brought them out of Egypt until this day, abandoning me and worshiping other gods.

Say to them,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: On the day I chose Israel, I swore an oath to the descendants of Jacob’s house and made myself known to them in the land of Egypt. I swore to them, saying,“ I am the LORD your God.”On that day I swore to them that I would bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands.I also said to them,“ Throw away, each of you, the abhorrent things that you prize, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.”“‘ But they rebelled against me and were unwilling to listen to me. None of them threw away the abhorrent things that they prized, and they did not abandon the idols of Egypt. So I considered pouring out my wrath on them, exhausting my anger against them within the land of Egypt.But I acted for the sake of my name, so that it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations they were living among, in whose sight I had made myself known to Israel by bringing them out of Egypt.“‘ So I brought them out of the land of Egypt and led them into the wilderness.Then I gave them my statutes and explained my ordinances to them— the person who does them will live by them.I also gave them my Sabbaths to serve as a sign between me and them, so that they would know that I am the LORD who consecrates them.“‘ But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not follow my statutes and they rejected my ordinances— the person who does them will live by them. They also completely profaned my Sabbaths. So I considered pouring out my wrath on them in the wilderness to put an end to them.But I acted for the sake of my name, so that it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.However, I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land I had given them— the most beautiful of all lands, flowing with milk and honey—because they rejected my ordinances, profaned my Sabbaths, and did not follow my statutes. For their hearts went after their idols.Yet I spared them from destruction and did not bring them to an end in the wilderness.“‘ Then I said to their children in the wilderness,“ Don’t follow the statutes of your fathers, defile yourselves with their idols, or keep their ordinances.I am the LORD your God. Follow my statutes, keep my ordinances, and practice them.Keep my Sabbaths holy, and they will be a sign between me and you, so you may know that I am the LORD your God.”“‘ But the children rebelled against me. They did not follow my statutes or carefully keep my ordinances— the person who does them will live by them. They also profaned my Sabbaths. So I considered pouring out my wrath on them and exhausting my anger against them in the wilderness.But I withheld my hand and acted for the sake of my name, so that it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I brought them out.However, I swore to them in the wilderness that I would disperse them among the nations and scatter them among the countries.For they did not practice my ordinances but rejected my statutes and profaned my Sabbaths, and their eyes were fixed on their fathers’ idols.I also gave them statutes that were not good and ordinances they could not live by.When they sacrificed every firstborn in the fire, I defiled them through their gifts in order to devastate them so they would know that I am the LORD.’“ Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and tell them,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: In this way also your ancestors blasphemed me by committing treachery against me:When I brought them into the land that I swore to give them and they saw any high hill or leafy tree, they offered their sacrifices and presented their offensive offerings there. They also sent up their pleasing aromas and poured out their drink offerings there.So I asked them,“ What is this high place you are going to?” And it is still called Bamah today.’“ Therefore say to the house of Israel,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: Are you defiling yourselves the way your ancestors did, and prostituting yourselves with their abhorrent things?When you offer your gifts, sacrificing your children in the fire, you still continue to defile yourselves with all your idols today. So should I let you inquire of me, house of Israel? As I live— this is the declaration of the Lord GOD— I will not let you inquire of me!“‘ When you say,“ Let’s be like the nations, like the clans of other countries, serving wood and stone,” what you have in mind will never happen.

“ Son of man, there were two women, daughters of the same mother,who acted like prostitutes in Egypt, behaving promiscuously in their youth. Their breasts were fondled there, and their virgin nipples caressed.

But they were disobedient and rebelled against you. They flung your law behind their backs and killed your prophets who warned them in order to turn them back to you. They committed terrible blasphemies.

Now, because you have done all these things— this is the LORD’s declaration— and because I have spoken to you time and time again but you wouldn’t listen, and I have called to you, but you wouldn’t answer,

Our guilt has been terrible from the days of our ancestors until the present. Because of our iniquities we have been handed over, along with our kings and priests, to the surrounding kings, and to the sword, captivity, plundering, and open shame, as it is today.
