“ Stand in the gate of Yahweh’s house, and proclaim this word there, and say,‘ Hear Yahweh’s word, all you of Judah, who enter in at these gates to worship Yahweh.’”

The Lord said to Jeremiah,“ Stand in the courtyard of my house. Speak to the people of the towns in Judah. Speak to all those who come to worship in my house. Tell them everything I command you. Do not leave out a single word.

Rulers of Sodom, hear the Lord’ s message. People of Gomorrah, listen to the instruction of our God.

Now then, listen to the Lord’ s message. You say,“‘ Don’t prophesy against Israel. Stop preaching against the people of Isaac.’

Then Jeremiah returned from Topheth. That’s where the Lord had sent him to prophesy. Jeremiah stood in the courtyard of the Lord’ s temple. He spoke to all the people. He said,

Listen to me, all you nations! Earth and everyone who lives in it, pay attention! The Lord and King will be a witness against you. The Lord will speak from his holy temple in heaven.

Go out to the Valley of Ben Hinnom. Stand near the entrance of the gate where broken pieces of pottery are thrown away. There announce the message I give you.Tell the people,‘ Listen to the Lord’ s message, you kings of Judah and people of Jerusalem. The Lord who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says,“ Listen! I am going to bring trouble on Jerusalem. It will be so horrible that it will make the ears of everyone who hears about it ring.

Whoever has ears should listen to what the Holy Spirit says to the churches.’ ”

At the highest point along the way, she takes her place where the paths meet.Beside the gate leading into the city, she cries out at the entrance. She says,

The people I am sending you to are very stubborn. Tell them,‘ Here is what the Lord and King says.’They might listen, or they might not. After all, they refuse to obey me. But whether they listen or not, they will know that a prophet was among them.

Baruch read to all the people who were at the Lord’ s temple. He read Jeremiah’s words from the scroll. He was in the room of Gemariah the secretary. It was located in the upper courtyard at the entrance of the New Gate of the temple. Gemariah was the son of Shaphan.

“ Listen to me, you priests! Pay attention, people of Israel! Listen, you members of the royal family! Here is my decision against you. You have been like a trap at Mizpah. You have been like a net spread out on Mount Tabor.

The Lord said to Jeremiah,“ Go down to the palace of the king of Judah. Announce my message there. Tell him,‘ King of Judah, listen to the Lord’ s message. You are sitting on David’s throne. You and your officials and your people come through these gates.

The Lord said to me,“ Go. Stand at the city gate called the Gate of the People. That is where the kings of Judah go in and out. Then stand at all the other gates of Jerusalem.Say,‘ Listen to the Lord’ s message, you kings of Judah and all you people of Judah and Jerusalem. You always come through these gates.

People of Israel, listen to what the Lord is telling you.

So you go there. Go on a day when the people are fasting. Read to them from the scroll. Read the words of the Lord you wrote down as I gave them to you. Read them to all the people of Judah who come in from their towns.

Then Jeremiah spoke to all the people. That included the women. He said,“ All you people of Judah in Egypt, listen to the Lord’ s message.

Micaiah continued,“ Listen to the Lord’ s message. I saw the Lord sitting on his throne. All the angels of heaven were standing around him. Some were standing at his right side. The others were standing at his left side.

Out in the open wisdom calls out. She raises her voice in a public place.On top of the city wall she cries out. Here is what she says near the gate of the city.

People of Jacob, hear the Lord’ s message. Listen, all you tribes of Israel.

“‘ “But listen to the Lord’ s promise to you, Zedekiah king of Judah. I say that you will not be killed by a sword.

Whoever has ears should listen to what the Holy Spirit says to the churches.’

‘ Whoever has ears should listen to what the Holy Spirit says to the churches. Here is what I will do for anyone who has victory over sin. I will give that person hidden manna to eat. I will also give each of them a white stone with a new name written on it. Only the one who receives this name will know what it is.’

Then I said,“ Listen, you leaders of Jacob’s people! Pay attention, you rulers of Israel! You should want to judge others fairly.

‘ Whoever has ears should listen to what the Holy Spirit says to the churches. Here is what I will do for anyone who has victory over sin. I will let that person eat from the tree of life in God’s paradise.’

Whoever has ears should listen.”

“ I have spoken openly to the world,” Jesus replied.“ I always taught in synagogues or at the temple, where all the Jews come together. I didn’t say anything in secret.

‘ Whoever has ears should listen to what the Holy Spirit says to the churches. Here is what I will do for anyone who has victory over sin. I will not let that person be hurt at all by the second death.’

Listen to me, you leaders of Jacob’s people! Pay attention, you rulers of Israel! You hate to do what is fair. You twist everything that is right.

Every day they taught in the temple courtyards and from house to house. They never stopped telling people the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.

Whoever has ears should listen to what the Holy Spirit says to the churches.’

“ Go! Stand in the temple courtyard,” the angel said.“ Tell the people all about this new life.”
