Take warning, Jerusalem, or I will turn away from you and make your land desolate so no one can live in it.”

Jerusalem, listen to my warning. If you do not, I will turn away from you. Your land will become a desert. No one will be able to live there.”

She revealed her harlotry and uncovered her nakedness. Then I alienated Myself from her, As I had alienated Myself from her sister.

Though they bring up their children, Yet I will bereave them to the last man. Yes, woe to them when I depart from them!

But they did not obey nor incline their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear nor receive instruction.

Seeing you hate instruction And cast My words behind you?

And they have turned to Me the back, and not the face; though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive instruction.

“ Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:‘ Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem,“ Will you not receive instruction to obey My words?” says the Lord.“ The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, which he commanded his sons, not to drink wine, are performed; for to this day they drink none, and obey their father’s commandment. But although I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking, you did not obey Me.I have also sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying,‘ Turn now everyone from his evil way, amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them; then you will dwell in the land which I have given you and your fathers.’ But you have not inclined your ear, nor obeyed Me.

I said,‘ Surely you will fear Me, You will receive instruction’— So that her dwelling would not be cut off, Despite everything for which I punished her. But they rose early and corrupted all their deeds.

Oh, that they were wise, that they understood this, That they would consider their latter end!

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ Behold, My anger and My fury will be poured out on this place— on man and on beast, on the trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground. And it will burn and not be quenched.”

Then the land shall enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in your enemies’ land; then the land shall rest and enjoy its sabbaths.

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:“ Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.Do not trust in these lying words, saying,‘ The temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord are these.’“ For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, if you thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor,if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, or walk after other gods to your hurt,then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers forever and ever.

O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, That you may be saved. How long shall your evil thoughts lodge within you?

I dismissed the three shepherds in one month. My soul loathed them, and their soul also abhorred me.Then I said,“ I will not feed you. Let what is dying die, and what is perishing perish. Let those that are left eat each other’s flesh.”

Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; Keep her, for she is your life.

Surely, after my turning, I repented; And after I was instructed, I struck myself on the thigh; I was ashamed, yes, even humiliated, Because I bore the reproach of my youth.’

Then I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride. For the land shall be desolate.

Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O Lord, And teach out of Your law,

Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth.

“ I will make Jerusalem a heap of ruins, a den of jackals. I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.”

The young lions roared at him, and growled; They made his land waste; His cities are burned, without inhabitant.
