西底家作王第九年十月十日，巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒率领他的全军来攻打耶路撒冷；他们在城外安营，又在四围筑垒攻城。于是，城被围困，直到西底家王第十一年。四月九日，城里饥荒非常严重，甚至那地的人民都断了粮食。城终于被攻破了，所有的战士就在夜间从靠近王的花园的两墙中间的那门，逃跑出城。那时迦勒底人在四围攻城；他们就往亚拉巴的方向逃走。

“要向列国提说，向耶路撒冷宣扬：‘围攻的人从远地而来，向犹大的各城镇大声吶喊。他们四面包围耶路撒冷，好像看守田地的人一样，因为耶路撒冷背叛了我。’”这是耶和华的宣告。

耶和华差派迦勒底的军队、亚兰的军队、摩押的军队和亚扪人的军队攻打他，他差他们攻击犹大，毁灭它，就像耶和华藉着他的仆人众先知预言的话。

亚述王啊！你的牧人睡觉，你的贵族安歇，你的子民分散在各山上，没有人招聚他们。

犹大王西底家第九年十月，巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒率领他的全军来攻击耶路撒冷，把城围困起来。西底家第十一年四月九日，城被攻破。巴比伦王所有的将领：尼甲．沙利薛、三甲．尼波、大臣（“大臣”的本意不明确）撒西金、术士长（“术士长”的本意不明确）尼甲．沙利薛，以及巴比伦王所有其余的将领，都进城，坐在中门。

那时，巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒的臣仆来到耶路撒冷，城就被围困。尼布甲尼撒的臣仆正在围城的时候，巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒亲自来到耶路撒冷。犹大王约雅斤和他的母亲、众臣仆、众领袖，以及众太监，出城投降巴比伦王。巴比伦王于是捉住他。那时，是巴比伦王在位第八年。
