各位蒙愛的人哪，當火一樣的考驗臨到你們中間，給你們試煉的時候，你們不要感到奇怪，好像發生了怪異的事。

不過他來的日子，誰能承受得起呢？他顯現的時候，誰能站立得住呢？因為他像煉金之人的火，又像漂布之人的鹼。他必安坐像熬煉、潔淨銀子之人，潔淨利未的子孫，精煉他們像精煉金銀那樣；他們就必藉著公義向耶和華獻供物。

好讓你們的信仰經過考驗，就比那被火煉過仍然會朽壞的金子更加寶貴，能在耶穌基督顯現的時候，被看為是可以得著稱讚、榮耀和尊貴的。
