I saw the Lord standing by the altar, and he said:“ Strike the tops of the pillars so that the thresholds shake. Though they hide from my eyes at the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent to bite them.Though they are driven into exile by their enemies, there I will command the sword to slay them.“ I will keep my eye on them for harm and not for good.” (niv)

Then Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah,“ What crime have I committed against you or your attendants or this people, that you have put me in prison? (niv)

The swift will not escape, the strong will not muster their strength, and the warrior will not save his life.The archer will not stand his ground, the fleet-footed soldier will not get away, and the horseman will not save his life. (niv)

I will spread my net for him, and he will be caught in my snare. I will bring him to Babylon and execute judgment on him there because he was unfaithful to me.All his choice troops will fall by the sword, and the survivors will be scattered to the winds. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken. (niv)
