There at Riblah, in the land of Hamath, the king had them executed. So Judah went into captivity, away from her land.

Thorns and briers will come up on my people’s land; yes, on all the houses of joy in the joyous city.For the palace will be forsaken. The populous city will be deserted. The hill and the watchtower will be for dens forever, a delight for wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks,

Then I said,“ Lord, how long?” He answered,“ Until cities are waste without inhabitant, houses without man, the land becomes utterly waste,and Yahweh has removed men far away, and the forsaken places are many within the land.

Seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel stood before them. In the middle of them Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan stood, every man with his censer in his hand; and the smell of the cloud of incense went up.Then he said to me,“ Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in his rooms of imagery? For they say,‘ Yahweh doesn’t see us. Yahweh has forsaken the land.’”He said also to me,“ You will again see more of the great abominations which they do.”Then he brought me to the door of the gate of Yahweh’s house which was toward the north; and I saw the women sit there weeping for Tammuz.Then he said to me,“ Have you seen this, son of man? You will again see yet greater abominations than these.”He brought me into the inner court of Yahweh’s house; and I saw at the door of Yahweh’s temple, between the porch and the altar, there were about twenty- five men, with their backs toward Yahweh’s temple, and their faces toward the east. They were worshiping the sun toward the east.Then he said to me,“ Have you seen this, son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence, and have turned again to provoke me to anger. Behold, they put the branch to their nose.Therefore I will also deal in wrath. My eye won’t spare, neither will I have pity. Though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, yet I will not hear them.”

The earth will be utterly emptied and utterly laid waste; for Yahweh has spoken this word.

I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that you will soon utterly perish from off the land which you go over the Jordan to possess it. You will not prolong your days on it, but will utterly be destroyed.

For Yahweh says,‘ Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends. They will fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes will see it. I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them captive to Babylon, and will kill them with the sword.

Yahweh will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth. There you will serve other gods which you have not known, you nor your fathers, even wood and stone.

Moreover the Spirit lifted me up, and brought me to the east gate of Yahweh’s house, which looks eastward. Behold, twenty- five men were at the door of the gate; and I saw among them Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.He said to me,“ Son of man, these are the men who devise iniquity, and who give wicked counsel in this city;who say,‘ The time is not near to build houses. This is the cauldron, and we are the meat.’Therefore prophesy against them. Prophesy, son of man.”Yahweh’s Spirit fell on me, and he said to me,“ Speak,‘ Yahweh says:“ Thus you have said, house of Israel; for I know the things that come into your mind.You have multiplied your slain in this city, and you have filled its streets with the slain.“‘ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:“ Your slain whom you have laid in the middle of it, they are the meat, and this is the cauldron; but you will be brought out of the middle of it.You have feared the sword; and I will bring the sword on you,” says the Lord Yahweh.“ I will bring you out of the middle of it, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.You will fall by the sword. I will judge you in the border of Israel. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.This will not be your cauldron, neither will you be the meat in the middle of it. I will judge you in the border of Israel.

When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer,

I will even give them up to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth for evil; to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I will drive them.I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, until they are consumed from off the land that I gave to them and to their fathers.’”

Yahweh will bring you, and your king whom you will set over yourselves, to a nation that you have not known, you nor your fathers. There you will serve other gods of wood and stone.

“ For from their least even to their greatest, everyone is given to covetousness. From the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely.They have healed also the hurt of my people superficially, saying,‘ Peace, peace!’ when there is no peace.Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush. Therefore they will fall among those who fall. When I visit them, they will be cast down,” says Yahweh.

Then they took the king, and carried him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; and he pronounced judgment on him.

Yahweh said,“ I will also remove Judah out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and I will cast off this city which I have chosen, even Jerusalem, and the house of which I said,‘ My name shall be there.’”

Yahweh rejected all the offspring of Israel, afflicted them, and delivered them into the hands of raiders, until he had cast them out of his sight.

until Yahweh removed Israel out of his sight, as he said by all his servants the prophets. So Israel was carried away out of their own land to Assyria to this day.

But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, who had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

I will scatter you among the nations, and I will draw out the sword after you. Your land will be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste.Then the land will enjoy its Sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in your enemies’ land. Even then the land will rest and enjoy its Sabbaths.As long as it lies desolate it shall have rest, even the rest which it didn’t have in your Sabbaths when you lived on it.

From Mount Hor you shall mark out to the entrance of Hamath; and the border shall pass by Zedad.Then the border shall go to Ziphron, and it shall end at Hazar Enan. This shall be your north border.“‘ You shall mark out your east border from Hazar Enan to Shepham.The border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain. The border shall go down, and shall reach to the side of the sea of Chinnereth eastward.
