You will see things that are even more detestable than this.”He then brought me into the inner court of the house of the Lord, and there at the entrance to the temple, between the portico and the altar, were about twenty-five men. With their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, they were bowing down to the sun in the east.He said to me,“ Have you seen this, son of man? Is it a trivial matter for the people of Judah to do the detestable things they are doing here? Must they also fill the land with violence and continually arouse my anger? Look at them putting the branch to their nose!Therefore I will deal with them in anger; I will not look on them with pity or spare them. Although they shout in my ears, I will not listen to them.”

I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you this day that you will quickly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. You will not live there long but will certainly be destroyed.

For this is what the Lord says:‘ I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends; with your own eyes you will see them fall by the sword of their enemies. I will give all Judah into the hands of the king of Babylon, who will carry them away to Babylon or put them to the sword.

There at the entrance of the gate were twenty-five men, and I saw among them Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, leaders of the people.The Lord said to me,“ Son of man, these are the men who are plotting evil and giving wicked advice in this city.They say,‘ Haven’t our houses been recently rebuilt? This city is a pot, and we are the meat in it.’Therefore prophesy against them; prophesy, son of man.”Then the Spirit of the Lord came on me, and he told me to say:“ This is what the Lord says: That is what you are saying, you leaders in Israel, but I know what is going through your mind.You have killed many people in this city and filled its streets with the dead.“ Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: The bodies you have thrown there are the meat and this city is the pot, but I will drive you out of it.You fear the sword, and the sword is what I will bring against you, declares the Sovereign Lord.I will drive you out of the city and deliver you into the hands of foreigners and inflict punishment on you.You will fall by the sword, and I will execute judgment on you at the borders of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.This city will not be a pot for you, nor will you be the meat in it; I will execute judgment on you at the borders of Israel.

When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer,

I will make them abhorrent and an offense to all the kingdoms of the earth, a reproach and a byword, a curse and an object of ridicule, wherever I banish them.I will send the sword, famine and plague against them until they are destroyed from the land I gave to them and their ancestors.’”

The Lord will drive you and the king you set over you to a nation unknown to you or your ancestors. There you will worship other gods, gods of wood and stone.

I will scatter you among the nations and will draw out my sword and pursue you. Your land will be laid waste, and your cities will lie in ruins.Then the land will enjoy its sabbath years all the time that it lies desolate and you are in the country of your enemies; then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths.All the time that it lies desolate, the land will have the rest it did not have during the sabbaths you lived in it.
