Then say,‘ So will Babylon sink to rise no more because of the disaster I will bring on her. And her people will fall.’” The words of Jeremiah end here.

This is what the Lord of armies says:“ The broad wall of Babylon will be completely demolished, And her high gates will be set on fire; So the peoples will labor for nothing, And the nations become exhausted only for fire.”

May the thorn bush grow instead of wheat, And stinkweed instead of barley.” The words of Job are ended.

But with an overflowing flood He will make a complete end of its site, And will pursue His enemies into darkness.Whatever you devise against the Lord, He will make a complete end of it. Distress will not rise up twice.

The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

Then a strong angel picked up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying,“ So will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down with violence, and will never be found again.

He will cut off the spirit of princes; He is feared by the kings of the earth.

Is it not indeed from the Lord of armies That peoples labor merely for fire, And nations become weary for nothing?

The sea has come up over Babylon; She has been engulfed by its roaring waves.

“ And you shall say to them,‘ This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:“ Drink, be drunk, vomit, fall down, and do not get up, because of the sword which I am sending among you.” ’

And another angel, a second one, followed, saying,“ Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, she who has made all the nations drink of the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality.”

And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying,“ Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird.
