“ Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has devoured us, he has thrown us into confusion, he has made us an empty jar. Like a serpent he has swallowed us and filled his stomach with our delicacies, and then has spewed us out.

The people of Jerusalem say,“ Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has destroyed us. He has thrown us into a panic. He has emptied us out like a jar. Like a snake he has swallowed us up. He has filled his stomach with our rich food. Then he has spit us out of his mouth.”

“ Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me; he has crushed me; he has made me an empty vessel; he has swallowed me like a monster; he has filled his stomach with my delicacies; he has rinsed me out.

“ King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has eaten and crushed us and drained us of strength. He has swallowed us like a great monster and filled his belly with our riches. He has thrown us out of our own country.

“ King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has devoured me; he has crushed me. He has set me aside like an empty dish; he has swallowed me like a sea monster; he filled his belly with my delicacies; he has vomited me out.

“ King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon devoured me and drove my people out. Like a monster from the deep he swallowed me. He filled his belly with my riches. He made me an empty dish. He completely cleaned me out.”

以色列族若亡羊、為獅所驅、初為亞述王吞噬、後為巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒折骨。

我在巴比倫必罰彼勒、所吞者使哇而出之、列邦不復歸巴比倫、其城垣傾覆、我使之然。

其平日並吞財貨、上帝必使復吐之。

耶和華使斯土荒蕪、國家傾覆、居民離散、若庶人若祭司、若僕若主、若婢女、若主母、若鬻諸人、若購於人、若貸人以金、若借人之金、若得子母、若納子母者、俱必流離失所、斯地必為邱墟、刧掠殆盡、耶和華已言之矣。

敵口孔張、切齒憤聲、曰、我所望者、今日之事、斯邑吞噬、我所目睹兮。

偽善之士子、𠵽唎㘔人、其有禍乎、以爾當人前閉天國、爾自不進、而將進者、爾不許、

爾當以我言告之云、主耶和華曰、敵縱橫噬、使山荒寂、為他邦之人所得、虛誕之徒、播其流言、

貧者所有、爾尚貪之、使窮乏之民、俱就渝亡、今聽我言、

雅各家以色列族之顯榮、敵使之虛無、削其枝葉、我耶和華必令其恢復、

維予犯罪、主加以軛、懸於我項、使力廢弛兮、付我於敵不能自救兮。主集列邦之民、會伐我猶大、我有能之士、遭其蹂躪、我勇敢之卒、惕服其威兮、我之處女被踐、若踐酒醡兮。

敵擄金銀、財貨眾多、玩好之物、不可勝數、城邑空虛、變為荒土、人皆喪膽、兩股戰慄、腰骨殊痛、悚惶變色、

昔巴比倫殺以色列族、後其四境居民見戮於人、亦若是。

彼猶生存、害之至死、如塚中尸僵、弗能動也。

維昔郇邑、居民眾多、今則不勝寂寞兮、昔為大國、今若嫠婦兮、昔也列邦為彼所制、今則為人供役、能勿悲兮。

摩押肇造邦國以來、恆享承平、未嘗為人所虜、若酒有渣滓、不易尊罍、故臭味仍存、馨香不變。耶和華曰、時日將至、我必使人傾之、罄其器皿、壞其革囊。

凡遇我民者、必吞噬之、敵曰、耶和華為斯民之福場、列祖所恃、今彼獲罪於主我噬之何害。

鵜鶘毛蝟聚處焉、鷺鷥烏鴉棲止焉、我循準繩、以滅以東、

猶大王西底家九年十月、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒帥師圍耶路撒冷、十一年四月九日取之。巴比倫王之牧伯、尼甲沙利泄、三甲尼破、宦官長撒西金、博士長尼甲沙哩設、又有王之牧伯數人、咸至坐於中門。猶大王西底家與諸武士見此、則夤夜逃遁、有途近於王囿、有門在於二垣之間、由此以出、望平原而去、迦勒底人帥師、追及之、於耶利哥平原執之、解至哈末地之立拉、以見巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒、請彼定擬。巴比倫王在立拉、殺西底家之世子、使之目睹、猶大之家亦遭誅殛。抉西底家之目、繫以銅索、被逮於巴比倫、王宮民室、悉為迦勒底人所燬、墮耶路撒冷城垣。
