The people of Jerusalem say,“ Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has destroyed us. He has thrown us into a panic. He has emptied us out like a jar. Like a snake he has swallowed us up. He has filled his stomach with our rich food. Then he has spit us out of his mouth.”

所以你要说预言：主耶和华这样说：因为敌人使你们荒凉，四围践踏你们，好使你们归给列国中余剩的人为业，成为人们提说和嘲笑的对象，

践踏穷乏人又除掉国中困苦人的，你们要听这话。

然而，耶和华必恢复雅各的光荣，好像以色列的光荣一样；因为劫掠的人曾把他们劫掠一空，又把他们的葡萄枝子毁坏了。

我的过犯像轭一样被绑好；是他亲手缠绑的。我的过犯加在我的颈上，他使我的气力衰弱。主把我交在我不能对抗的人手中。主丢弃我中间的所有勇士；他招聚了一大群人来攻击我，要打碎我的青年人。主践踏犹大女儿中的处女，像践踏压酒池一样。

你们劫掠银子，抢夺金子吧！积蓄的财宝无穷无尽，珍贵的器皿不可胜数。现在却空虚、荒凉，一无所有；人心惊惶，两膝发抖，全身疼痛，面无血色。

我们要好像阴间一般，把他们活生生吞下，他们整个被我们吞下，如同下坑的人一样；

从前人烟稠密的城中，现在怎么竟然孤独地坐在那里。从前在列国中为大的，现在怎么竟然像个寡妇。从前在众省份中为王后的，现在怎么竟然成了奴隶。

摩押自年幼以来常享安逸，像不受搅扰的酒在缸里澄清，从没有倒进另一个缸里去，它也从没有被人掳去。因此它仍保留着原味，它的芬芳没有改变失去。“看哪！日子快到（这是耶和华的宣告），我必差派倒酒的人到它那里去，把它倒出来，直至倒空，又把酒缸打碎。

所有遇见他们的都吞吃他们；他们的敌人说：‘我们没有罪，因为他们得罪了耶和华，那真正的居所；耶和华是他们列祖的盼望。’

但鹈鹕与箭猪要占据那地，猫头鹰和乌鸦必住在其中。耶和华必把混沌的准绳、空虚的线铊，拉在其上。

犹大王西底家第九年十月，巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒率领他的全军来攻击耶路撒冷，把城围困起来。西底家第十一年四月九日，城被攻破。巴比伦王所有的将领：尼甲．沙利薛、三甲．尼波、大臣（“大臣”的本意不明确）撒西金、术士长（“术士长”的本意不明确）尼甲．沙利薛，以及巴比伦王所有其余的将领，都进城，坐在中门。犹大王西底家和所有的军兵看见了他们，就逃跑，在夜间逃出城外，经过王的花园，穿过两道城墙中间的门，直往亚拉巴的路上走去。但迦勒底人的军队追赶他们，在耶利哥的原野上追上了西底家，把他拿住，带到哈马地的利比拉去见巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒；尼布甲尼撒就宣判他的罪状。巴比伦王在利比拉，当着西底家眼前杀了他的众子；巴比伦王也杀了犹大所有的显贵，并且把西底家的眼睛弄瞎了，用铜链锁住他，把他带到巴比伦去。迦勒底人放火焚烧王宫和民房，又拆毁了耶路撒冷的城墙。
