The Babylonians tremble and shake with fear. My plans against them stand firm. I plan to destroy their land completely. Then no one will live there.

今耶和華震怒、欲滅巴比倫、為其殿宇雪忿、故慫慂米太王、以攻爾邑、爾雖礪鏃執盾、邑垣建旆、戍樓鞏固、命戍稽察、設伏防禦、終歸無益、蓋我耶和華昔言降災巴比倫、今已有應。

因我耶和華震怒、巴比倫傾圮、變為荒蕪、無人居處、凡過之者、見其災害、必駭異而作怨聲。

我耶和華已定厥志、攻巴比倫、降罰迦勒底、即羊之小者、亦得而欺之、使其居處荒蕪。

昔巴比倫富甲萬邦、為迦勒底人所尊、厥後必為上帝所敗、若所多馬蛾摩拉然。自茲以後、代無居人、亞喇伯人不張其幕、牧者不使羊憩息、

地必震動、民必哀號、土壤墳起、忽復下陷、若埃及之河、漲而復退。

惟耶和華真上帝、永生為王、彼赫斯怒、則大地震動、彼發厥憤、則億兆不安。

巴比倫王聞聲喪膽、憂心戚戚、若婦將產。

掃除巴比倫之邑、變為水澤、蝟集其處。萬有之主耶和華矢之曰、我意已定、我命必成、

災降於卜筮之輩、使之愚蠢、悍勇之卒、使之怯懦。

大聲呼曰、巴比倫大邑、其傾圮乎、其傾圮乎、今為鬼所居、及一切邪神不潔可憎之鳥樊籠、

見爾者必駭然曰、震動天下、使列國畏懼、荒其四境、毀其邑垣、不反俘囚者、非斯人與。

其來之時、天地震動、日月晦冥、星辰無光、

故暴獸野犬、雌雄鴕鳥、必巢其中、無人居處、歷代若此。耶和華曰、昔所多馬蛾摩拉、及其鄰邑、為我上帝所傾圮、無人居處、斯邑亦必若是。

有能天使舉大石如磨、投於海、曰、巴比倫大邑、當猝然傾圮、不復得見、有如此石、鼓琴作樂、品簫吹角之音、不復聞於爾間、百工不復居於爾間、磨聲不再聞於爾間、燈光不復照於爾間、新娶者、與新婦之語、不復聞於爾間、爾商旅乃世上大夫、萬國以爾巫術迷惑、先知聖徒、與天下見殺者之血、於巴比倫見之、

自始迄終、未來之事、我一一預言、我旨必成、意必就。召彼鷙鳥、至自東土、我所簡者、來自遠方、我言已出、必踐之、我意已定、必成之、

迦勒底國巴比倫都譬諸女主、失位而坐塗炭、喪其容儀、取磨磨粉、去爾帕、摳爾衣、跣爾足、涉彼溪流、必裸爾體、使爾懷羞、以洩我忿、孰能禦之。萬有之主以色列族之聖主、其名耶和華、必拯我儕。惟爾迦勒底邦列國、稱之為主母、必囚於幽暗之處、拘於荒僻之所、昔耶和華震怒厥民、以其地付爾、俾染污俗、乃爾不以矜憫為懷、使其父老、負戴重軛、爾自謂必永為主母、不深思此理、不慮後患。然爾淫佚之婦、僣稱主母、自謂無能比儗、必不夫亡子喪。吾語汝、一日之間、夫喪子殤、二難並至。爾惑左道、信巫覡、邪慝方張、患難已集、爾自恃巧令、迷眩於惡、自謂人不及見、我為主母、無能比儗。故必遭患難、昧於所從、不能自脫、災害忽臨、難以逆料。自昔迄今、爾惑左道、信巫覡、試使立於此、能小補乎、能勝敵乎、爾謀夫孔多、有人仰觀天象、占察星辰、每值月朔、以卜未來、以定吉凶、使其咸興、庶可救爾。豈知彼乃草芥、被火焚燬、不能自救、皆為灰燼、不見微炭、不餘爝火、俾人溫暖。昔日左道之徒、與爾往來、今見爾邑敗亡、各歸己所、無人援爾。

當言於耶和華曰、爾言必滅斯邦人民畜群、刧掠一空、地變荒蕪、歷代若此、言竟則繫書於石、投之百辣河中。曰耶和華降災於巴比倫、使彼困乏、沉而不浮、有如此書、於是耶利米之言畢矣。
