The sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.

Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.

“ Declare among the nations, Proclaim, and set up a standard; Proclaim— do not conceal it— Say,‘ Babylon is taken, Bel is shamed. Merodach is broken in pieces; Her idols are humiliated, Her images are broken in pieces.’

A tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together! The Lord of hosts musters The army for battle.They come from a far country, From the end of heaven— The Lord and His weapons of indignation, To destroy the whole land.

The sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Diphath, and Togarmah.

“ Behold, a people shall come from the north, And a great nation and many kings Shall be raised up from the ends of the earth.They shall hold the bow and the lance; They are cruel and shall not show mercy. Their voice shall roar like the sea; They shall ride on horses, Set in array, like a man for the battle, Against you, O daughter of Babylon.

The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were crowns of something like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men.They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth.And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle.They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men five months.And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon.

The Lord of hosts has sworn by Himself:“ Surely I will fill you with men, as with locusts, And they shall lift up a shout against you.”

All inhabitants of the world and dwellers on the earth: When he lifts up a banner on the mountains, you see it; And when he blows a trumpet, you hear it.

“ They shall cut down her forest,” says the Lord,“ Though it cannot be searched, Because they are innumerable, And more numerous than grasshoppers.

Now it came to pass, as he was worshiping in the temple of Nisroch his god, that his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him down with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. Then Esarhaddon his son reigned in his place.

If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it?

For they would come up with their livestock and their tents, coming in as numerous as locusts; both they and their camels were without number; and they would enter the land to destroy it.

“ O you children of Benjamin, Gather yourselves to flee from the midst of Jerusalem! Blow the trumpet in Tekoa, And set up a signal-fire in Beth Haccerem; For disaster appears out of the north, And great destruction.

For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city shall be taken, The houses rifled, And the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness, Like the morning clouds spread over the mountains. A people come, great and strong, The like of whom has never been; Nor will there ever be any such after them, Even for many successive generations.A fire devours before them, And behind them a flame burns; The land is like the Garden of Eden before them, And behind them a desolate wilderness; Surely nothing shall escape them.

There the fire will devour you, The sword will cut you off; It will eat you up like a locust. Make yourself many— like the locust! Make yourself many— like the swarming locusts!You have multiplied your merchants more than the stars of heaven. The locust plunders and flies away.Your commanders are like swarming locusts, And your generals like great grasshoppers, Which camp in the hedges on a cold day; When the sun rises they flee away, And the place where they are is not known.
