七月十七日，方舟停在亞拉臘山上。

「你要向列國宣告，你要豎起旗幟毫不隱瞞地宣告，『巴比倫要淪陷了！它的神明彼勒必蒙羞，米羅達必驚慌；巴比倫的神像都蒙羞，偶像都必驚慌。

他們必受許多國家和強大君王的奴役，我要按他們的所作所為報應他們。」

豎起旗幟，攻打巴比倫的城牆；要加強防衛，派人巡邏，設下埋伏。因為耶和華言出必行，一定要懲罰巴比倫人。

要在光禿的山頂上豎立旗幟，向戰士高呼，揮手示意他們進攻貴族居住的城。我已向我揀選的士兵發出命令，我已號召我的勇士去傾倒我的烈怒，他們因我的勝利而歡喜。聽啊，山上人聲鼎沸，像是大軍的聲音。那是列邦列國聚集呐喊的聲音。萬軍之耶和華正在召集軍隊，準備作戰。他們從地極，從天邊而來。那是耶和華及傾倒祂烈怒的兵器，要來毀滅大地。

歌篾的兒子是亞實基拿、低法、陀迦瑪。

看啊，大軍要從北方而來，一個強國及其盟軍要從地極而來。巴比倫人啊，他們殘忍無道，手持弓箭和矛槍，騎著戰馬，列陣攻擊你們，聲勢如翻騰的大海。

那些蝗蟲好像預備出征的戰馬一樣，頭上好像戴了金冠，面孔好像人臉，毛髮好像女人的頭髮，牙齒好像獅子的牙，胸前有甲，如同鐵甲，鼓動翅膀時聲音如同千軍萬馬奔赴戰場。牠們像蠍子一樣尾巴上有毒鉤，可以折磨人五個月。牠們的王是無底坑的天使，希伯來文名叫亞巴頓，希臘文名叫亞玻倫，意思是「毀滅者」。

萬軍之耶和華憑自己起誓說：「我要使敵人如蝗蟲一樣鋪天蓋地而來，佔據你們的家園，歡呼勝利。」

世上的一切居民啊，山上豎立旗幟的時候，你們要看；號角吹響的時候，你們要聽。

埃及的人口雖然稠密如林，敵軍必像無數的蝗蟲一樣掃平他們。這是耶和華說的。

一天，亞述王在他的神明尼斯洛的廟裡祭拜時，他的兩個兒子亞得米勒和沙利色用刀殺了他，逃往亞拉臘。他的另一個兒子以撒哈頓繼位。

若城中響起號角，居民豈不恐懼顫抖？若災禍降臨城中，豈不是耶和華的作為？

入侵者帶著牲畜和帳篷像蝗蟲一樣湧來，人和駱駝不計其數，摧毀了整個地區。

「便雅憫人啊，你們要逃離耶路撒冷！你們要在提哥亞吹響號角，在伯·哈基琳發出警報，因為有大災難從北方逼近。

因為我必招聚萬國去攻打耶路撒冷。那時，城必失守，房屋必被洗劫，婦女必被玷污。半城的人必被擄去，剩下的人必留在城中，不會被剷除。

那將是烏雲密佈、天昏地暗的日子。來了一支空前絕後、強盛無比的蝗蟲大軍，牠們像曙光一樣佈滿山頭。牠們的前隊如火燎原，後隊如熊熊烈焰。牠們未到以前，大地美得像伊甸園；牠們過去之後，大地變成一片荒場，地上的一切都逃不過這一場浩劫。

但在那裡，火要吞噬你，刀劍要殺戮你，要像蝗蟲吞沒你。你只管像蝗蟲一樣繁殖，如蚱蜢一般增多吧！你的商賈多過天上的繁星，但他們像吃光後飛去的蝗蟲。你的臣僕像蝗蟲，你的將領像成群的蚱蜢。牠們寒日聚集在牆上，太陽一出來就飛走了，無人知道牠們的行蹤。
