There is a voice of fugitives and refugees from the land of Babylon. The voice announces in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance for his temple.Summon the archers to Babylon, all who string the bow; camp all around her; let none escape. Repay her according to her deeds; just as she has done, do the same to her, for she has acted arrogantly against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.

This is what your Lord says— the LORD, even your God, who defends his people—“ Look, I have removed from your hand the cup that causes staggering; that goblet, the cup of my fury. You will never drink it again.I will put it into the hands of your tormentors, who said to you,‘ Lie down, so we can walk over you.’ You made your back like the ground, and like a street for those who walk on it.

Who is this coming from Edom in crimson-stained garments from Bozrah— this one who is splendid in his apparel, striding in his formidable might? It is I, proclaiming vindication, powerful to save.Why are your clothes red, and your garments like one who treads a winepress?I trampled the winepress alone, and no one from the nations was with me. I trampled them in my anger and ground them underfoot in my fury; their blood spattered my garments, and all my clothes were stained.For I planned the day of vengeance, and the year of my redemption came.
