耶和华说：“巴比伦啊！你是我的锤子，我作战的兵器，我要用你打碎列国，毁灭列邦。

耶和华说：“你是我的铁锤，作我的兵器；我用你们打碎列国，用你毁灭万邦。

爾米太王、若我巨椎。若我武備、用汝伐列邦、殲眾庶、

爾如我之大鎚、如戰之器械、用爾碎諸國、毀列邦、

“ You are my war club, my weapon for battle— with you I shatter nations, with you I destroy kingdoms,

“ Babylon, you are my war club. You are my weapon for battle. I use you to destroy nations. I use you to wipe out kingdoms.

“ You are my hammer and weapon of war: with you I break nations in pieces; with you I destroy kingdoms;

“ You are my battle ax and sword,” says the Lord.“ With you I will shatter nations and destroy many kingdoms.

You are my war club, my weapons of war. With you I will smash nations; with you I will bring kingdoms to ruin.

He says,“ You are My war club, My weapon of war; And with you I shatter nations, And with you I destroy kingdoms.

“ You are My battle-ax and weapons of war: For with you I will break the nation in pieces; With you I will destroy kingdoms;

Thou art my battle- axe and weapons of war: and with thee will I break in pieces the nations; and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;

You are My battle club, My weapons of war. With you I will smash nations; with you I will bring kingdoms to ruin.

Thou[ art] my battle axe[ and] weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;

“ Babylon, you are my war club, my weapon for battle. I used you to smash nations. I used you to destroy kingdoms.

“ You are my battle ax and weapons of war. With you I will break the nations into pieces. With you I will destroy kingdoms.

“ See, I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush them, and reduce the hills to chaff.You will winnow them, the wind will pick them up, and a gale will blow them away. But you will rejoice in the Lord and glory in the Holy One of Israel. (niv)

“ Rise and thresh, Daughter Zion, for I will give you horns of iron; I will give you hooves of bronze, and you will break to pieces many nations.” You will devote their ill- gotten gains to the Lord, their wealth to the Lord of all the earth. (niv)

“ Woe to the Assyrian, the rod of my anger, in whose hand is the club of my wrath! (niv)

The Lord has broken the rod of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers,which in anger struck down peoples with unceasing blows, and in fury subdued nations with relentless aggression. (niv)

The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. (niv)

This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years. (niv)

I will summon all the peoples of the north and my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,” declares the Lord,“ and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and against all the surrounding nations. I will completely destroy them and make them an object of horror and scorn, and an everlasting ruin. (niv)

How broken and shattered is the hammer of the whole earth! How desolate is Babylon among the nations! (niv)

I will bend Judah as I bend my bow and fill it with Ephraim. I will rouse your sons, Zion, against your sons, Greece, and make you like a warrior’s sword.Then the Lord will appear over them; his arrow will flash like lightning. The Sovereign Lord will sound the trumpet; he will march in the storms of the south, (niv)

“ Have you not heard? Long ago I ordained it. In days of old I planned it; now I have brought it to pass, that you have turned fortified cities into piles of stone. (niv)

With my great power and outstretched arm I made the earth and its people and the animals that are on it, and I give it to anyone I please.Now I will give all your countries into the hands of my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; I will make even the wild animals subject to him.All nations will serve him and his son and his grandson until the time for his land comes; then many nations and great kings will subjugate him. (niv)

They come from faraway lands, from the ends of the heavens— the Lord and the weapons of his wrath— to destroy the whole country. (niv)

Does the ax raise itself above the person who swings it, or the saw boast against the one who uses it? As if a rod were to wield the person who lifts it up, or a club brandish the one who is not wood! (niv)
