But the God of Israel is no idol! He is the Creator of everything that exists, including his people, his own special possession. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is his name!

He who is the Portion of Jacob is not like these, for he is the Maker of all things, including the people of his inheritance— the Lord Almighty is his name.

But I, the God of Jacob, am not like them. I give my people everything they need. I can do this because I made everything, including Israel. They are the people who belong to me. My name is the Lord Who Rules Over All.

Not like these is he who is the portion of Jacob, for he is the one who formed all things, and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance; the Lord of hosts is his name.

My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.

But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel for his own special treasure.

I say to myself,“ The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”

“ You rejoice and are glad, you who plundered my chosen people. You frisk about like a calf in a meadow and neigh like a stallion.

Our God is in the heavens, and he does as he wishes.

What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord, whose people he has chosen as his inheritance.

“ I have abandoned my people, my special possession. I have surrendered my dearest ones to their enemies.My chosen people have roared at me like a lion of the forest, so I have treated them with contempt.My chosen people act like speckled vultures, but they themselves are surrounded by vultures. Bring on the wild animals to pick their corpses clean!“ Many rulers have ravaged my vineyard, trampling down the vines and turning all its beauty into a barren wilderness.

Our Redeemer, whose name is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, is the Holy One of Israel.

Remember that we are the people you chose long ago, the tribe you redeemed as your own special possession! And remember Jerusalem, your home here on earth.

Now if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me.And you will be my kingdom of priests, my holy nation.’ This is the message you must give to the people of Israel.”

Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine.

“ For the people of Israel belong to the Lord; Jacob is his special possession.
