“ Sharpen the arrows, take up the shields! The Lord has stirred up the kings of the Medes, because his purpose is to destroy Babylon. The Lord will take vengeance, vengeance for his temple.

我是耶和华，别无其二；除我以外没有神。你虽然不认识我，我却装备你；

筵席已摆设，地毯已铺上，人们又吃又喝——首领们哪，起来！用油擦抹盾牌！

看哪！我要激起米底亚人来攻击他们。米底亚人不重视银子，也不喜爱金子；他们的弓箭必把少年人射烂，他们不怜悯妇人腹中的胎儿，他们的眼也不顾惜小孩。

我要把猛禽从东方召来，把成就我筹算的人从遥远之地召来。我已经说出，就必定使之实现；我计划了，就必定实行。

我从北方兴起一人；他从日出之地而来，他必呼求我的名。他必把掌权者像泥土一样践踏，如同陶匠踹踏陶泥。

求你举步到那长久荒凉之地——在圣所中，仇敌已经做了一切恶事。你的敌人在你的会所中吼叫，设立了自己的标帜为记号；他们像是在树林中挥斧头的人；而现在，他们用斧子和锤子，把圣所的雕刻全都击碎了。他们放火把你的圣所烧成平地，亵渎了你名的住所。他们心里说：“我们要彻底制伏这些人！”他们在地上焚烧了神一切的会所。我们看不到自己的标帜，也不再有先知；在我们中间，没有人知道这要到什么时候。神哪，敌人的辱骂要到什么时候呢？仇敌要永久藐视你的名吗？你为什么把你的手、把你的右手收回去呢？求你从怀中伸出手，灭绝他们！

万军之耶和华要挥动鞭子攻击他们，就像在俄立磐石那里击打米甸人；耶和华的杖要向海伸出，他必像在埃及那样举起杖来。

有一个严酷的异象向我宣告：“背信者背信，毁灭者行毁灭。以拦哪，上去吧！米底亚啊，围攻吧！我要使一切的叹息止住。”

耶和华紧拉着居鲁士的右手，让列国降服在他面前，使君王们的腰带松开；又让门在他面前敞开，使城门也不关闭——耶和华对所膏立的居鲁士如此说：

你所看见的那十只角和那兽，他们将恨恶那淫妇，并且将使她成为荒芜、赤身露体，又要吃她的肉，而且用火烧掉她。因为神把意念放在他们心中，要他们实现他的目的，要他们行事目的一致，并把十只角的王权交给那兽，直到神的话语成就。
