耶和华说：“看啊，有一个民族从北方来，有一个强国从地极发动进攻。他们残酷无情，毫无怜悯，手持弓箭长枪，骑马奔来，声势如狂涛怒吼。锡安城啊，他们准备列阵攻击你。”

要在光秃的山顶上竖立旗帜，向战士高呼，挥手示意他们进攻贵族居住的城。我已向我拣选的士兵发出命令，我已号召我的勇士去倾倒我的烈怒，他们因我的胜利而欢喜。听啊，山上人声鼎沸，像是大军的声音。那是列邦列国聚集呐喊的声音。万军之耶和华正在召集军队，准备作战。他们从地极，从天边而来。那是耶和华及倾倒祂烈怒的兵器，要来毁灭大地。

“因为巴比伦人毁灭了耶和华的殿，耶和华要使玛代诸王毁灭他们。玛代人啊，要磨尖箭头，拿起盾牌，

看啊，我要驱使玛代人来攻击他们。玛代人不在乎金子，也不看重银子，他们必用弓箭射死青年，不怜悯婴儿，也不顾惜孩童。

怪兽和它头上的十角必憎恨那淫妇，使她赤身露体、景况凄凉。它们要吃她的肉，最后用火将她烧尽。

“你要向列国宣告，你要竖起旗帜毫不隐瞒地宣告，‘巴比伦要沦陷了！它的神明彼勒必蒙羞，米罗达必惊慌；巴比伦的神像都蒙羞，偶像都必惊慌。因为有一个来自北方的国家要攻击它，使它荒凉、人畜绝迹。’”

耶和华说：“看啊，我要使毁灭的暴风袭击巴比伦和住在立加米的人。毁灭巴比伦人的日子一到，我要差遣外族人从四面八方攻击、消灭他们，如同狂风卷走碎秸。
