This is what the Lord of armies says:“ The sons of Israel are oppressed, And the sons of Judah as well; And all who took them captive have held them firmly, They have refused to let them go.

This is what the Lord Almighty says:“ The people of Israel are oppressed, and the people of Judah as well. All their captors hold them fast, refusing to let them go.

The Lord who rules over all says,“ The people of Israel are being treated badly. So are the people of Judah. Those who have captured them are holding them. They refuse to let them go.

“ Thus says the Lord of hosts: The people of Israel are oppressed, and the people of Judah with them. All who took them captive have held them fast; they refuse to let them go.

This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says:“ The people of Israel and Judah have been wronged. Their captors hold them and refuse to let them go.

This is what the LORD of Armies says: Israelites and Judeans alike have been oppressed. All their captors hold them fast; they refuse to release them.

Thus says the Lord of hosts:“ The children of Israel were oppressed, Along with the children of Judah; All who took them captive have held them fast; They have refused to let them go.

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: The children of Israel and the children of Judah are oppressed together; and all that took them captive hold them fast; they refuse to let them go.

This is what the Lord of Hosts says: Israelites and Judeans alike have been oppressed. All their captors hold them fast; they refuse to release them.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah[ were] oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go.

The LORD who rules over all says,“ The people of Israel are oppressed. So too are the people of Judah. All those who took them captive are holding them prisoners. They refuse to set them free.

Yahweh of Armies says:“ The children of Israel and the children of Judah are oppressed together. All who took them captive hold them fast. They refuse to let them go.

Who made the world like a wilderness And overthrew its cities, Who did not allow his prisoners to go home?’

Is this not the fast that I choose: To release the bonds of wickedness, To undo the ropes of the yoke, And to let the oppressed go free, And break every yoke?

I was angry with My people, I profaned My heritage And handed them over to you. You did not show mercy to them, On the aged you made your yoke very heavy.

Although recently you had turned and done what is right in My sight, each one proclaiming release to his neighbor, and you had made a covenant before Me in the house which is called by My name.Yet you turned and profaned My name, and each person took back his male servant and each his female servant whom you had set free according to their desire, and you brought them into subjection to be your male and female servants.’“ Therefore this is what the Lord says:‘ You have not obeyed Me in proclaiming release, each one to his brother and each to his neighbor. Behold, I am proclaiming a release to you,’ declares the Lord,‘ to the sword, to the plague, and to the famine; and I will make you a terror to all the kingdoms of the earth.I will give the people who have violated My covenant, who have not fulfilled the words of the covenant which they made before Me, when they cut the calf in two and passed between its parts—

But I am very angry with the nations who are carefree; for while I was only a little angry, they furthered the disaster.”Therefore the Lord says this:“ I will return to Jerusalem with compassion; My house will be built in it,” declares the Lord of armies,“ and a measuring line will be stretched over Jerusalem.” ’

Still you exalt yourself against My people by not letting them go.Behold, about this time tomorrow, I will send a very heavy hail, such as has not been seen in Egypt from the day it was founded until now.

But if you refuse to let them go, behold, I am going to strike your entire territory with frogs.

All who found them have devoured them; And their adversaries have said,‘ We are not guilty, Since they have sinned against the Lord who is the habitation of righteousness, The Lord, the hope of their fathers.’

“ Israel is a scattered flock, the lions have driven them away. The first one who devoured him was the king of Assyria, and this last one who has gnawed his bones is Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.Therefore this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ Behold, I am going to punish the king of Babylon and his land, just as I punished the king of Assyria.

“ Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me, he has crushed me, He has set me down like an empty vessel; He has swallowed me like a monster, He has filled his stomach with my delicacies; He has washed me away.May the violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon,” The inhabitant of Zion will say; And,“ May my blood be upon the inhabitants of Chaldea,” Jerusalem will say.Therefore this is what the Lord says:“ Behold, I am going to plead your case And take vengeance for you; And I will dry up her sea And make her fountain dry.

I will put it into the hand of your tormentors, Who have said to you,‘ Lie down so that we may walk over you.’ You have also made your back like the ground, And like the street for those who walk over it.”

For this is what the Lord God says:“ My people went down to Egypt first to reside there; then the Assyrian oppressed them without reason.And now, what do I have here,” declares the Lord,“ seeing that My people have been taken away without reason?” Again the Lord declares,“ Those who rule over them howl, and My name is continually reviled all day long.Therefore, My people shall know My name; therefore on that day I am the one who is speaking,‘ Here I am.’ ”

But Pharaoh said,“ Who is the Lord that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, and besides, I will not let Israel go.”

For if you refuse to let them go and continue to hold them,behold, the hand of the Lord will come with a very severe plague on your livestock which are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the herds, and on the flocks.

“ Can the prey be taken from a mighty man, Or the captives of a tyrant be rescued?”Indeed, this is what the Lord says:“ Even the captives of the mighty man will be taken away, And the prey of a tyrant will be rescued; For I will contend with the one who contends with you, And I will save your sons.I will feed your oppressors with their own flesh, And they will become drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine; And humanity will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”
