Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says:“ I will punish the king of Babylon and his land as I punished the king of Assyria.

The Lord who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says,“ I punished the king of Assyria. In the same way, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land.

Therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing punishment on the king of Babylon and his land, as I punished the king of Assyria.

Therefore, this is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says:“ Now I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, just as I punished the king of Assyria.

看哪，亚述是黎巴嫩的香柏树，枝条荣美，荫密如林，极其高大，树顶高耸入云。众水使它生长，深水使它长高；所栽之地有江河环绕，汊出的水道流至田野的树木。所以它高大超过田野的树木；生长时因水源丰沛，枝子繁多，枝条增长。空中所有的飞鸟在枝子上搭窝，野地所有的走兽在枝条下生子，所有的大国也在它的荫下居住。它树大枝长，极为荣美，因它的根在众水之旁。上帝园中的香柏树不能遮蔽它；松树不及它的枝子，枫树不及它的枝条，上帝园中的树都没有它荣美。我使它枝条繁多，极为荣美；在上帝的园中，伊甸所有的树都嫉妒它。”所以主耶和华如此说：“因它高大，树顶高耸入云，心高气傲，我要把它交给列国中强人的手里，他们必定按它的罪恶惩治它。我已经驱逐它。外国人，就是列国中凶暴的人，已把它砍断抛弃。它的枝条掉落山间和一切谷中，枝子折断，落在地上一切河道。地上的万民都离开它的遮荫，抛弃了它。空中的飞鸟都栖身在掉落的树干上，野地的走兽也都躺卧在它的枝条中。为了要使水边的树木枝干不再长高，树顶也不再高耸入云；那些得水滋润的，不再屹立于其中。因为它们和下到地府的人一起，都被交与死亡，到了地底下。”主耶和华如此说：“它坠落阴间的那日，我为它遮盖深渊，拦住江河，使众水停流，以表哀悼。我使黎巴嫩为它悲哀，田野的树木都因它枯萎。我把它扔到阴间，与下到地府的人一同坠落。那时，列国听见坠落的响声就震惊；伊甸一切的树木，就是黎巴嫩中得水滋润、最佳最美的树，在地底下都得了安慰。这些树也要与它同下阴间，到被刀所杀的人那里；它们曾作它的膀臂，在列国中曾居住在它的荫下。

耶和华要伸手攻击北方，毁灭亚述，使尼尼微荒凉，干旱如同旷野。群畜，就是各类的走兽必卧在其中，鹈鹕和豪猪要宿在柱顶；窗户有鸣叫的声音，门槛毁坏，他要毁坏香柏木板。这素来欢乐、安然居住的城，心里说：“惟有我，除我以外再没有别的”，现在竟然荒凉，成为野兽躺卧之处！凡经过的人都必摇着手嗤笑它。

论尼尼微的默示，伊勒歌斯人那鸿所见异象的书。耶和华是忌邪、报应的上帝。耶和华施报应，大有愤怒；耶和华向他的敌人报应，向他的仇敌怀怒。耶和华不轻易发怒，大有能力，但耶和华万不以有罪的为无罪。他的道路在旋风和暴风之中，云彩为他脚下的尘土。

耶和华的使者出去，在亚述营中杀了十八万五千人。清早有人起来，看哪，都是死尸。亚述王西拿基立就拔营回去，住在尼尼微。一日，他在他的神明尼斯洛庙里叩拜，他儿子亚得米勒和沙利色用刀杀了他，然后逃到亚拉腊地；他儿子以撒‧哈顿接续他作王。
