故此萬軍之永恆主以色列之上帝這麼說：看吧，我必察罰巴比倫王和他的地，像察罰亞述王一樣。

Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says:“ I will punish the king of Babylon and his land as I punished the king of Assyria.

The Lord who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says,“ I punished the king of Assyria. In the same way, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land.

Therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing punishment on the king of Babylon and his land, as I punished the king of Assyria.

Therefore, this is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says:“ Now I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, just as I punished the king of Assyria.

Therefore, this is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: I am about to punish the king of Babylon and his land just as I punished the king of Assyria.

Therefore this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ Behold, I am going to punish the king of Babylon and his land, just as I punished the king of Assyria.

看哪，我要將你比作利巴嫩中的香柏樹，枝條美麗，成蔭之林，樹身高大，樹梢挺立於雲霄間。眾水使它長大，深洋之水使它長高，使它的江河流出，環繞種它之地，散佈它的眾水道流到田野的眾樹。因此其樹身聳然屹立、高過田野的眾樹；由於它出幼枝子時有很多水，它的枝子就多起來，它的枝條就長長。空中的飛鳥都在它的枝子上搭窩；田野的走獸都在它的枝條下生子；許多國的人民都在它的蔭影下住着。它以其高大而美麗，以其枝條之修長而秀美，因為它的根扎在許多水那裏。上帝園中的香柏樹遮它不着，松樹也比不着它的枝子；楓樹不如它的枝條；上帝園中的眾樹都比不着它的美麗。我以其枝條之茂盛而使它美麗，以致上帝園中伊甸的眾樹都羨慕它。『故此永恆主這麼說：其樹身既高聳，其樹梢既挺立於雲霄間，其心既以其高大而驕傲，那我就要將它交於列國中大有威勢的人手中；他一定要照它的邪惡來辦它，並驅逐它。外族人、列國中的強橫人、必將它砍掉、而丟棄它在山上；它的枝條必掉落在各平谷中；它的枝子必折斷在國中各水溝裏；地上列族之民都必逃走，離開它的蔭影。空中的飛鳥都必棲宿在它傾覆的遺跡上，田野的走獸都必躺臥在它的枝條下。都為的是要使水旁的眾樹、樹身都不高聳，不將其樹梢挺立入於雲霄間，只要使凡所有得水滋潤的樹都不屹立於高聳中；因為他們都被交於死亡，交於地府之最低處、在人類中間、到那些下冥坑的人那裏。『永恆主這麼說：當它下陰間的日子，我必使深洋為它而悲哀：我限制它的江河，大水就停流；我也使利巴嫩為它而哀悼，田野的眾樹都為它而暈過去。我扔它下陰間、跟那些下陰坑的人在一起，那時列國聽見它墜落的響聲、就都震動，伊甸的眾樹、利巴嫩所有得水滋潤的、最佳最美的樹、在地府之最低處就都心平氣靜。它們也跟它一起下陰間，到那些被刀刺死的人那裏；它的幫助者，那些在列國中住在它的蔭影下的人也都下去。

永恆主必伸手攻擊北方，毁滅亞述；他必使尼尼微荒涼，乾旱如曠野。羣畜必躺於其間，平谷中各樣走獸必臥在那裏；叫梟和箭豬必住宿在柱頂上；鴟鴞必在窗戶內號鳴，烏鴉必在門檻間啼叫：香柏木都必敗壞露現。這就是那素來歡躍的城，她自以為安穩而居住着，心裏想着說：『我、我以外再沒有別的。』如今怎麼竟變為荒涼，竟成了野獸的躺臥處啊！凡從那裏經過的都必摇手嗤笑她！

以下是關於尼尼微的神託，是伊勒歌斯人那鴻的異象書。永恆主是忌邪、是行報應的上帝；永恆主施行着報應，而且滿有烈怒。永恆主向他的敵人行報應，他向他的仇敵懷怒。永恆主不輕易發怒，而是大有能力；永恆主絕不以有罪的為無罪。他所行的路乃在狂風暴雨中，雲彩是他腳下的飛塵。

永恆主的使者就出來，在亞述營中擊殺了十八萬五千人；第二天早晨、人清早起來，只見都是死屍。亞述王西拿基立拔了營而走，就回去，住在尼尼微。他在他的神尼斯洛廟裏叩拜的時候，他兒子亞得米勒和沙利色用刀弒殺了他，逃到亞拉臘地。他的兒子以撒哈頓接替他作王。
