因你向黎巴嫩使用暴力，殺滅驚嚇野獸；又殺人流血，向全地各城和其中所有居民施行暴力，就必受到報應（“報應”原文作“遮蓋”）。

他們緊握弓和槍，性情殘忍，毫無憐憫；他們的聲音像海洋怒吼；巴比倫的居民哪！他們騎著戰馬，在戰場上如同一人，列陣攻擊你們。

大衛清早起來，把羊群託給一個看守的人，就照著耶西所吩咐他的，帶著食物去了。他來到軍營中的時候，軍隊正出去列陣，吶喊助陣。

“搶奪我產業的啊！你們雖然歡喜快樂，像踹穀的母牛犢跳躍，像雄壯的馬嘶叫；

你們要磨尖箭頭，拿起盾牌（“拿起盾牌”《七十士譯本》譯作“裝滿箭袋”）；耶和華定意要毀滅巴比倫，所以激動瑪代諸王的心；這是耶和華的報復，就是為他的殿而施行的報復。你們要豎起旗幟，攻擊巴比倫的城牆，並要加強防衛，設立防哨，布下埋伏；因為耶和華不但定意，也必作成他攻擊巴比倫居民的話。

我必打發外族人去巴比倫簸揚它，揚淨它的地；在它遭禍的日子，他們必從四圍攻擊它。

“萬軍之耶和華這樣說：看哪！我要折斷以攔的弓，就是他們戰鬥力強的武器。

“你們要在地上豎起旗幟，在列國中吹號角，使列國作好準備攻擊巴比倫，把亞拉臘、米尼、亞實基拿等國召來攻擊她，又指派元帥來攻擊她，使馬匹像蝗蟲洶湧上來。

她額上寫著一個名號：“奧祕，大巴比倫，地上的淫婦和可憎的物之母。”

馬匹啊，上前吧！戰車啊，狂奔吧！勇士啊，就是緊握盾牌的古實人和弗人，以及拉弓的呂底亞人哪，上陣吧！

看哪！我要激動瑪代人來攻擊他們。瑪代人不重視銀子，也不喜愛金子。他們的弓箭必射倒年輕人，他們不憐憫婦人腹中的嬰兒；他們的眼也不顧惜小孩。

約押看見自己前後受敵，就從以色列所有的精兵中，挑選一部分出來，使他們擺陣去迎戰亞蘭人，

他們的箭銳利，所有的弓都上了弦；他們的馬蹄看來像火石，車輛似旋風。

聽啊！山上有喧嘩的聲音，好像是眾多的人民；聽啊！有多國的人的嘈雜聲，好像是列國聚集在一起。萬軍之耶和華正在數點軍兵，預備打仗。
