Because of the Lord’s anger she will not be inhabited but will be completely desolate. All who pass Babylon will be appalled; they will scoff because of all her wounds.

Because I am angry with it, no one will live there. It will be completely deserted. All those who pass by Babylon will be shocked. They will make fun of it because of all its wounds.

Because of the wrath of the Lord she shall not be inhabited but shall be an utter desolation; everyone who passes by Babylon shall be appalled, and hiss because of all her wounds.

Because of the Lord’s anger, Babylon will become a deserted wasteland. All who pass by will be horrified and will gasp at the destruction they see there.

以致他們的地令人驚駭，常常嗤笑；凡經過這地的必驚駭搖頭。

「以東必令人驚駭；凡經過的人就受驚駭，又因她一切的災禍嗤笑。

巴比倫必成為亂堆，為野狗的住處，令人驚駭、嗤笑，並且無人居住。

人要向他拍掌，並要發叱聲，使他離開本處。

凡過路的都向你拍掌。他們向耶路撒冷城嗤笑，搖頭，說：難道人所稱為全美的，稱為全地所喜悅的，就是這城嗎？你的仇敵都向你大大張口；他們嗤笑，又切齒說：我們吞滅她。這真是我們所盼望的日子臨到了！我們親眼看見了！

我必使這城令人驚駭嗤笑；凡經過的人，必因這城所遭的災驚駭嗤笑。

七十年滿了以後，我必刑罰巴比倫王和那國民，並迦勒底人之地，因他們的罪孽使那地永遠荒涼。這是耶和華說的。

這些國的民豈不都要提起詩歌並俗語譏刺他說：禍哉！迦勒底人，你增添不屬自己的財物，多多取人的當頭，要到幾時為止呢？咬傷你的豈不忽然起來，擾害你的豈不興起，你就作他們的擄物嗎？因你搶奪許多的國，殺人流血，向國內的城並城中一切居民施行強暴，所以各國剩下的民都必搶奪你。為本家積蓄不義之財、在高處搭窩、指望免災的有禍了！你圖謀剪除多國的民，犯了罪，使你的家蒙羞，自害己命。牆裏的石頭必呼叫；房內的棟樑必應聲。以人血建城、以罪孽立邑的有禍了！眾民所勞碌得來的被火焚燒，列國由勞乏而得的歸於虛空，不都是出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？認識耶和華榮耀的知識要充滿遍地，好像水充滿洋海一般。給人酒喝、又加上毒物、使他喝醉、好看見他下體的有禍了！你滿受羞辱，不得榮耀；你也喝吧，顯出是未受割禮的！耶和華右手的杯必傳到你那裏；你的榮耀就變為大大地羞辱。你向黎巴嫩行強暴與殘害驚嚇野獸的事必遮蓋你；因你殺人流血，向國內的城並城中一切居民施行強暴。雕刻的偶像，人將它刻出來，有甚麼益處呢？鑄造的偶像就是虛謊的師傅。製造者倚靠這啞巴偶像有甚麼益處呢？

這是素來歡樂安然居住的城，心裏說：惟有我，除我以外再沒有別的；現在何竟荒涼成為野獸躺臥之處！凡經過的人都必搖手嗤笑她。

我甚惱怒那安逸的列國，因我從前稍微惱怒我民，他們就加害過分。

你必題這詩歌論巴比倫王說：欺壓人的何竟熄滅？強暴的何竟止息？耶和華折斷了惡人的杖，轄制人的圭，就是在忿怒中連連攻擊眾民的，在怒氣中轄制列國，行逼迫無人阻止的。現在全地得安息，享平靜；人皆發聲歡呼。松樹和黎巴嫩的香柏樹都因你歡樂，說：自從你仆倒，再無人上來砍伐我們。你下到陰間，陰間就因你震動來迎接你，又因你驚動在世曾為首領的陰魂，並使那曾為列國君王的，都離位站起。他們都要發言對你說：你也變為軟弱像我們一樣嗎？你也成了我們的樣子嗎？你的威勢和你琴瑟的聲音都下到陰間。你下鋪的是蟲，上蓋的是蛆。明亮之星，早晨之子啊，你何竟從天墜落？你這攻敗列國的何竟被砍倒在地上？你心裏曾說：我要升到天上；我要高舉我的寶座在神眾星以上；我要坐在聚會的山上，在北方的極處。我要升到高雲之上；我要與至上者同等。然而，你必墜落陰間，到坑中極深之處。凡看見你的都要定睛看你，留意看你，說：使大地戰抖，使列國震動，使世界如同荒野，使城邑傾覆，不釋放被擄的人歸家，是這個人嗎？
