生養你們的母親巴比倫將羞愧難當，蒙受恥辱，排在列國之末，淪為乾旱的荒漠。

然而你們的母卻要極慚愧，生你們的必蒙羞辱。看吧，她必列在諸國之末，成為曠野、旱地、草原。

爾母必蒙羞、生爾者必抱愧、為列國之末、亦為曠野、燥土沙漠、

今巴比倫抱愧、大邑含羞、其地終為邱墟、有若沙漠。

爾母恥甚、生爾者含羞、列國結局、終必荒蕪、為旱乾之地、成為沙漠、

your mother will be greatly ashamed; she who gave you birth will be disgraced. She will be the least of the nations— a wilderness, a dry land, a desert.

Because of that, you will bring great shame on your land. Your whole nation will be dishonored. It will become the least important of the nations. It will become a dry and empty desert.

your mother shall be utterly shamed, and she who bore you shall be disgraced. Behold, she shall be the last of the nations, a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.

But your homeland will be overwhelmed with shame and disgrace. You will become the least of nations— a wilderness, a dry and desolate land.

But Babylonia will be put to great shame. The land where you were born will be disgraced. Indeed, Babylonia will become the least important of all nations. It will become a dry and barren desert.

她的城邑淪為乾旱的荒漠，杳無人跡。

那天上的耶路撒冷則是自由的，是我們的母親。

這時，有一位大力天使舉起一塊像大磨石的石頭扔進海裡，說：「巴比倫大城也必這樣被用力扔下去，消失得無影無蹤。在你那裡，再也聽不見彈琴作樂、鳴笛吹號的聲音了，再也找不到能工巧匠了，再也聽不到推磨的聲音了，再也看不到閃耀的燈光了，再也聽不見新婚夫婦的歡笑聲了。因為你的商人曾經趾高氣揚，你的邪術曾經迷惑萬國，

在她額上還寫了一個神秘的名號：「大巴比倫——地上淫婦及可憎事物之母」。

毀滅天下的大山——巴比倫啊，我與你為敵，我要伸手攻擊你，把你從懸崖上滾下去，使你化為灰燼。這是耶和華說的。再無人用你的石頭做房角石或基石，你要永遠荒涼。這是耶和華說的。

北方諸王——無論遠近、一個接一個，以及天下萬國，最後是巴比倫王。

並且要說，『耶和華啊！你曾說要毀滅這地方，使這裡人獸絕跡、永遠荒涼。』讀完後，你要把卷軸綁在一塊石頭上，扔進幼發拉底河，然後說，『耶和華降的災禍必使巴比倫像這卷軸一樣沉沒、永不復興，巴比倫人必滅亡。』」耶利米的話到此為止。

那裡必人煙絕跡，世世代代無人居住，沒有阿拉伯人在那裡支搭帳篷，也無人牧放羊群。那裡躺臥著曠野的走獸，咆哮的猛獸佔滿房屋；鴕鳥住在那裡，野山羊在那裡跳躍嬉戲。豺狼在城樓上嚎叫，野狗在宮殿裡狂吠。巴比倫的結局近了，它的時候不多了！

看看迦勒底人的土地，那裡已杳無人煙！亞述人使它成為野獸出沒之地，他們築起圍城的高臺，摧毀它的宮殿，使它淪為廢墟。

萬軍之耶和華說：「我必攻擊巴比倫，剷除巴比倫的名號、餘民和後裔。這是耶和華說的。

七十年後，我要報應巴比倫王和他國民迦勒底人的罪，使他們的土地永遠荒涼。這是耶和華說的。

耶和華說：「看啊，時候將到，我要使亞捫人的拉巴城外響起戰爭的呐喊。拉巴必淪為廢墟，它周圍的鄉村都要被焚燒，以色列人必收復失地。這是耶和華說的。

耶和華說：「敵人要攻擊巴比倫的居民及其首領和謀士；敵人要攻擊巴比倫的假先知，使他們顯出愚昧；敵人要攻擊巴比倫的勇士，使他們充滿恐懼；敵人要攻擊巴比倫人的戰車戰馬和他們的盟軍，使他們柔弱得像婦女；敵人要攻打他們的庫房，肆意搶奪他們的財寶。旱災必臨到巴比倫，使那裡的河流乾涸，因為那裡偶像遍地，人們都沉迷於祭拜神像。「因此，巴比倫必杳無人煙，永遠荒涼，成為豺狼等野獸出沒之地、鴕鳥的棲身之所。上帝要毀滅巴比倫，像毀滅所多瑪、蛾摩拉及其周圍的城邑一樣，使那裡人煙絕跡。這是耶和華說的。
