我因這些事怎能不施行懲罰呢？像這樣的國家，我怎能不親自報復呢？”這是耶和華的宣告。

耶和华说：“我岂不因这些事讨罪呢？岂不报复这样的国民呢？

我岂不因这些事施行惩罚吗？像这样的国家，我岂能不报复呢？这是耶和华说的。

I will surely punish them for doing such things!” says the LORD.“ I will surely bring retribution on such a nation as this!”

Shouldn’t I punish them for these things?” says Yahweh.“ Shouldn’t my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

因此，耶和華以色列的神論到牧養他（“他”原文作“我”）子民的牧人這樣說：“你們使我的羊群四散，把牠們趕走，並沒有看顧牠們；看哪！我必因你們的惡行懲罰你們。”這是耶和華的宣告。

等到他們失足的時候，我要伸冤報應；因為他們遭遇災難的日子近了，那預備要臨到他們身上的事，必快快臨到。

使刀劍臨到你們，報復背約的仇；聚集你們到城裡，好使我打發瘟疫在你們中間，把你們交在仇敵的手裡。

他們喜愛獻祭，獻肉為祭，又拿來吃；耶和華卻不喜悅他們。他必記得他們的罪孽，追討他們的罪惡；他們必回到埃及去。

因此，主萬軍之耶和華，以色列的大能者說：“哎！我要向我的對頭雪恨，向我的仇敵報復。

她在拜眾巴力的日子，向他們燒香，佩戴耳環首飾，打扮自己，跟隨她那些愛人，卻把我遺忘，所以我必懲罰她。”這是耶和華說的。

列國啊，你們當與耶和華的子民一同歡呼，因為他要伸他僕人流血的冤，他要向他的仇人報復，他要救贖他的地和他的子民。”

錫安的居民（“居民”原文作“女子”）哪！你的刑罰已經受夠了，耶和華必不再使你流亡；以東的居民哪！他必懲罰你的罪孽，揭露你的罪惡。

我的眼必不顧惜，我也不憐恤。我卻要按著你的行為，照著你中間可憎的事報應你，你們就知道擊打你們的是我耶和華。

耶和華再不能容忍你們邪惡的行為，和你們所行可憎的事；故此，你們的土地荒涼，成了令人驚駭、被人咒詛的對象，沒有人居住，好像今天一樣。

“這樣我的怒氣才可以發盡，我向他們所發的烈怒才可以平息，自己才得到舒暢。我向他們所發的烈怒完全發盡的時候，他們就知道我耶和華說過的話是出於嫉恨的心。我要使你變成荒地，使你在你四圍的列國中和在所有路過的人眼前，成為羞辱的對象。我以怒氣、烈怒和忿怒的責備向你施行審判的時候，你就必在你四圍的列國中成為羞辱、譏諷和令人驚駭的對象，也成了他們的警戒。這是我耶和華說的。

耶和華是嫉惡和施行報復的神；耶和華施行報復，並且滿懷烈怒；耶和華向他的對頭施行報復，向他的仇敵懷怒。
