先知有言、災必及民、民謂其言虛誕若風、未嘗奉命於上。

先知所言、非由神感、必顯為空虛若風、彼所遭遇者若此、

The prophets are but wind and the word is not in them; so let what they say be done to them.”

The prophets are nothing but wind. Their message doesn’t come from the Lord. So let what they say will happen be done to them.”

God’s prophets are all windbags who don’t really speak for him. Let their predictions of disaster fall on themselves!’”

How long wilt thou speak these[ things]? and[ how long shall] the words of thy mouth[ be like] a strong wind?

Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.

Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.

Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate,[ which are] as wind?

For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. Report,[ say they], and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting,[ saying], Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.But the LORD[ is] with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper:[ their] everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.

Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of the LORD’S house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon:

The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know[ it]: the prophet[ is] a fool, the spiritual man[ is] mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.
