Then this city will bring me renown, joy, praise and honor before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and they will be in awe and will tremble at the abundant prosperity and peace I provide for it.’

Woe to you, great city, where all who had ships on the sea became rich through her wealth! In one hour she has been brought to ruin!’

“ How shattered she is! How they wail! How Moab turns her back in shame! Moab has become an object of ridicule, an object of horror to all those around her.”

I will restore your leaders as in days of old, your rulers as at the beginning. Afterward you will be called the City of Righteousness, the Faithful City.”

you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon: How the oppressor has come to an end! How his fury has ended!The Lord has broken the rod of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers,which in anger struck down peoples with unceasing blows, and in fury subdued nations with relentless aggression.

I have seen a wicked and ruthless man flourishing like a luxuriant native tree,but he soon passed away and was no more; though I looked for him, he could not be found.
