“ A lion coming up from the thick undergrowth along the Jordan scatters the sheep in the pastureland around it. So too I will chase the Edomites off their land. 敵必若獅、自約但之叢林而出、攻其恆茂之草場、我必令其突然逃避、且立所選者治之、誰與我比擬、誰與我爭辯、牧者伊誰、立於我前、

孰能與我比儗、孰能與我辯論、孰能為民牧、侍於我側我遴選之、以目會意、彼則疾趨、攻擊斯邦、譬彼獅子、因約但之水漲溢、出自河濱、遊於牧地、青草芊綿。

敵必忽來、如獅自約但河濱之叢林而上、攻擊鞏固之所、轉瞬之間、我將以東人逐於其地、誰蒙簡選、則我命之以轄斯地、孰能與我比擬、孰能與我爭辯、有何牧人、能立於我前、

“ Like a lion coming up from Jordan’s thickets to a rich pastureland, I will chase Edom from its land in an instant. Who is the chosen one I will appoint for this? Who is like me and who can challenge me? And what shepherd can stand against me?”

“ I will be like a lion coming up from the bushes by the Jordan River. I will hunt in rich grasslands. I will chase you from your land in an instant. What nation will I choose to do this? Which one will I appoint? Is anyone like me? Who would dare to argue with me? What leader can stand against me?”

Behold, like a lion coming up from the jungle of the Jordan against a perennial pasture, I will suddenly make him run away from her. And I will appoint over her whomever I choose. For who is like me? Who will summon me? What shepherd can stand before me?

I will come like a lion from the thickets of the Jordan, leaping on the sheep in the pasture. I will chase Edom from its land, and I will appoint the leader of my choice. For who is like me, and who can challenge me? What ruler can oppose my will?”

“ Look, it will be like a lion coming from the thickets of the Jordan to the watered grazing land. I will chase Edom away from her land in a flash. I will appoint whoever is chosen for her. For who is like me? Who will issue me a summons? Who is the shepherd who can stand against me?”

Behold, one will come up like a lion from the thicket of the Jordan to a perennially watered pasture; for in an instant I will chase him away from it, and I will appoint over it whoever is chosen. For who is like Me, and who will summon Me into court? And who then is the shepherd who can stand against Me?”

“ Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the floodplain of the Jordan Against the dwelling place of the strong; But I will suddenly make him run away from her. And who is a chosen man that I may appoint over her? For who is like Me? Who will arraign Me? And who is that shepherd Who will withstand Me?”

Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the pride of the Jordan against the strong habitation: for I will suddenly make them run away from it; and whoso is chosen, him will I appoint over it: for who is like me? and who will appoint me a time? and who is the shepherd that will stand before me?

“ Look, it will be like a lion coming from the thickets of the Jordan to the watered grazing land. Indeed, I will chase Edom away from her land in a flash. I will appoint whoever is chosen for her. For who is like Me? Who will summon Me? Who is the shepherd who can stand against Me?”

Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who[ is] a chosen[ man, that] I may appoint over her? for who[ is] like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who[ is] that shepherd that will stand before me?

“ Behold, he will come up like a lion from the pride of the Jordan against the strong habitation: for I will suddenly make them run away from it; and whoever is chosen, I will appoint him over it. For who is like me? Who will appoint me a time? Who is the shepherd who will stand before me?”

The LORD answered,“ If you have raced on foot against men and they have worn you out, how will you be able to compete with horses? And if you feel secure only in safe and open country, how will you manage in the thick undergrowth along the Jordan River?

One of their own people will be their leader. Their ruler will come from their own number. I will invite him to approach me, and he will do so. For no one would dare approach me on his own. I, the LORD, affirm it!

“ A lion coming up from the thick undergrowth along the Jordan scatters the sheep in the pastureland around it. So too I will chase the Babylonians off of their land. Then I will appoint over it whomever I choose. For there is no one like me. There is no one who can call me to account. There is no ruler that can stand up against me.So listen to what I, the LORD, have planned against Babylon, what I intend to do to the people who inhabit the land of Babylonia. Their little ones will be dragged off. I will completely destroy their land because of what they have done.The people of the earth will quake when they hear Babylon has been captured. Her cries of anguish will be heard by the other nations.”

Is it not fierce when it is awakened? Who is he, then, who can stand before it?

Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you?– majestic in holiness, fearful in praises, working wonders?

If it is a matter of strength, most certainly he is the strong one! And if it is a matter of justice, he will say,‘ Who will summon me?’

Like a lion that has come up from its lair the one who destroys nations has set out from his home base. He is coming out to lay your land waste. Your cities will become ruins and lie uninhabited.

When the ones carrying the ark reached the Jordan and the feet of the priests carrying the ark touched the surface of the water–( the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest time)–

They crossed the Jordan River in the first month, when it was overflowing its banks, and routed those living in all the valleys to the east and west.

You are awesome! Yes, you! Who can withstand your intense anger?

I am blameless. I do not know myself. I despise my life.

“ Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let the person who accuses God give him an answer!”Then Job answered the LORD:“ Indeed, I am completely unworthy– how could I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth to silence myself.I have spoken once, but I cannot answer; twice, but I will say no more.”Then the LORD answered Job from the whirlwind:“ Get ready for a difficult task like a man. I will question you and you will inform me!Would you indeed annul my justice? Would you declare me guilty so that you might be right?

because the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to withstand it?”

you asked,‘ Who is this who darkens counsel without knowledge?’ But I have declared without understanding things too wonderful for me to know.You said,‘ Pay attention, and I will speak; I will question you, and you will answer me.’I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye has seen you.

Who can compare to the LORD our God, who sits on a high throne?He bends down to look at the sky and the earth.

For who in the skies can compare to the LORD? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings,

No one can withstand his indignation! No one can resist his fierce anger! His wrath is poured out like volcanic fire, boulders are broken up as he approaches.

O that I knew where I might find him, that I could come to his place of residence!I would lay out my case before him and fill my mouth with arguments.I would know with what words he would answer me, and understand what he would say to me.Would he contend with me with great power? No, he would only pay attention to me.There an upright person could present his case before him, and I would be delivered forever from my judge.

Do not sit in judgment on your servant, for no one alive is innocent before you.

“ To whom can you compare me? Whom do I resemble?” says the Holy One.

O LORD, sovereign God! Who is strong like you, O LORD? Your faithfulness surrounds you.

Listen to the howling of shepherds, because their magnificence has been destroyed. Listen to the roaring of young lions, because the thickets of the Jordan have been devastated.
