緣摩押自大、悖逆耶和華、當使之沈醉、輾轉於所哇者中、為人姍笑、

彼於我前、自負不凡、故必降罰、若醉以酒、至於哇吐、顛躓不起、為人訕笑。

摩押狂妄自大、違悖主、當使之沈醉、輾轉哇吐、被人訕笑、

“ Make her drunk, for she has defied the Lord. Let Moab wallow in her vomit; let her be an object of ridicule.

“ Moab’s people think they are better than I am. So let their enemies make them drunk. Let the people get sick and throw up. Let them roll around in the mess they have made. Let people laugh at them.

“ Make him drunk, because he magnified himself against the Lord, so that Moab shall wallow in his vomit, and he too shall be held in derision.

“ Let him stagger and fall like a drunkard, for he has rebelled against the Lord. Moab will wallow in his own vomit, ridiculed by all.

“ Make him drunk, for he has become arrogant toward the Lord; so Moab will vomit, and he also will become a laughingstock.

“ Make him drunk, Because he exalted himself against the Lord. Moab shall wallow in his vomit, And he shall also be in derision.

Make ye him drunken; for he magnified himself against Jehovah: and Moab shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.

Moab will be destroyed as a people because he has exalted himself against the LORD.

The LORD has mixed within her a spirit of confusion. The leaders have made Egypt stagger in all she does, as a drunkard staggers in his vomit.

While they are flushed with heat, I will serve them a feast, and I will make them drunk so that they celebrate. Then they will fall asleep forever and never wake up. This is the LORD’s declaration.

Stop and be astonished; blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with beer.

Babylon was a gold cup in the LORD’s hand, making the whole earth drunk. The nations drank her wine; therefore, the nations go mad.

So rejoice and be glad, Daughter Edom, you resident of the land of Uz! Yet the cup will pass to you as well; you will get drunk and expose yourself.

Instead, you have exalted yourself against the Lord of the heavens. The vessels from his house were brought to you, and as you and your nobles, wives, and concubines drank wine from them, you praised the gods made of silver and gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see or hear or understand. But you have not glorified the God who holds your life-breath in his hand and who controls the whole course of your life.

“ How broken it is! They wail! How Moab has turned his back! He is ashamed. Moab will become a laughingstock and a shock to all those around him.”

But Pharaoh responded,“ Who is the LORD that I should obey him by letting Israel go? I don’t know the LORD, and besides, I will not let Israel go.”

I crushed nations in my anger; I made them drunk with my wrath and poured out their blood on the ground.

You have made your people suffer hardship; you have given us wine to drink that made us stagger.

The one enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord ridicules them.

This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, said to me:“ Take this cup of the wine of wrath from my hand and make all the nations to whom I am sending you drink from it.They will drink, stagger, and go out of their minds because of the sword I am sending among them.”So I took the cup from the LORD’s hand and made all the nations to whom the LORD sent me drink from it.

And you will say to them,‘ This is what the LORD says: I am about to fill all who live in this land— the kings who reign for David on his throne, the priests, the prophets, and all the residents of Jerusalem— with drunkenness.I will smash them against each other, fathers and sons alike— this is the LORD’s declaration. I will allow no mercy, pity, or compassion to keep me from destroying them.’”

I have heard the taunting of Moab and the insults of the Ammonites, who have taunted my people and threatened their territory.Therefore, as I live— this is the declaration of the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel— Moab will be like Sodom and the Ammonites like Gomorrah: a place overgrown with weeds, a salt pit, and a perpetual wasteland. The remnant of my people will plunder them; the remainder of my nation will dispossess them.This is what they get for their pride, because they have taunted and acted arrogantly against the people of the LORD of Armies.

Does an ax exalt itself above the one who chops with it? Does a saw magnify itself above the one who saws with it? It would be like a rod waving the ones who lift it! It would be like a staff lifting the one who isn’t wood!

For there is a cup in the LORD’s hand, full of wine blended with spices, and he pours from it. All the wicked of the earth will drink, draining it to the dregs.

But you laugh at them, LORD; you ridicule all the nations.

“ Then the king will do whatever he wants. He will exalt and magnify himself above every god, and he will say outrageous things against the God of gods. He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed, because what has been decreed will be accomplished.

God is wise and all-powerful. Who has opposed him and come out unharmed?

You have followed the path of your sister, so I will put her cup in your hand.”This is what the Lord GOD says:“ You will drink your sister’s cup, which is deep and wide. You will be an object of ridicule and scorn, for it holds so much.You will be filled with drunkenness and grief, with a cup of devastation and desolation, the cup of your sister Samaria.You will drink it and drain it; then you will gnaw its broken pieces, and tear your breasts. For I have spoken.” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.

You will be filled with disgrace instead of glory. You also— drink, and expose your uncircumcision! The cup in the LORD’s right hand will come around to you, and utter disgrace will cover your glory.

He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he sits in God’s temple, proclaiming that he himself is God.

“ Then you are to say to them,‘ This is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: Drink, get drunk, and vomit. Fall down and never get up again, as a result of the sword I am sending among you.’If they refuse to accept the cup from your hand and drink, you are to say to them,‘ This is what the LORD of Armies says: You must drink!For I am already bringing disaster on the city that bears my name, so how could you possibly go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am summoning a sword against all the inhabitants of the earth. This is the declaration of the LORD of Armies.’

You also will become drunk; you will hide. You also will seek refuge from the enemy.

The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. Babylon the Great was remembered in God’s presence; he gave her the cup filled with the wine of his fierce anger.

People have heard me groaning, but there is no one to comfort me. All my enemies have heard of my misfortune; they are glad that you have caused it. Bring on the day you have announced, so that they may become like me.

You are still acting arrogantly against my people by not letting them go.

It acted arrogantly even against the Prince of the heavenly army; it revoked his regular sacrifice and overthrew the place of his sanctuary.In the rebellion, the army was given up, together with the regular sacrifice. The horn threw truth to the ground and was successful in what it did.

Wake yourself, wake yourself up! Stand up, Jerusalem, you who have drunk the cup of his fury from the LORD’s hand; you who have drunk the goblet to the dregs— the cup that causes people to stagger.

Then you will know that I, the LORD, have heard all the blasphemies you uttered against the mountains of Israel, saying,“ They are desolate. They have been given to us to devour!”You boasted against me with your mouth, and spoke many words against me. I heard it myself!

He filled me with bitterness, satiated me with wormwood.

I will make her princes and sages drunk, along with her governors, officials, and warriors. Then they will fall asleep forever and never wake up. This is the King’s declaration; the LORD of Armies is his name.
