Then I took my staff called Favor and broke it, revoking the covenant I had made with all the nations.It was revoked on that day, and so the oppressed of the flock who were watching me knew it was the word of the Lord.I told them,“ If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.” So they paid me thirty pieces of silver.And the Lord said to me,“ Throw it to the potter”— the handsome price at which they valued me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter at the house of the Lord.Then I broke my second staff called Union, breaking the family bond between Judah and Israel. (niv)

Therefore I wail over Moab, for all Moab I cry out, I moan for the people of Kir Hareseth.I weep for you, as Jazer weeps, you vines of Sibmah. Your branches spread as far as the sea; they reached as far as Jazer. The destroyer has fallen on your ripened fruit and grapes.Joy and gladness are gone from the orchards and fields of Moab. I have stopped the flow of wine from the presses; no one treads them with shouts of joy. Although there are shouts, they are not shouts of joy. (niv)

Its branches were strong, fit for a ruler’s scepter. It towered high above the thick foliage, conspicuous for its height and for its many branches.But it was uprooted in fury and thrown to the ground. The east wind made it shrivel, it was stripped of its fruit; its strong branches withered and fire consumed them.Now it is planted in the desert, in a dry and thirsty land.Fire spread from one of its main branches and consumed its fruit. No strong branch is left on it fit for a ruler’s scepter.’“ This is a lament and is to be used as a lament.” (niv)

This is what the Lord Almighty says:“ Consider now! Call for the wailing women to come; send for the most skillful of them.Let them come quickly and wail over us till our eyes overflow with tears and water streams from our eyelids.The sound of wailing is heard from Zion:‘ How ruined we are! How great is our shame! We must leave our land because our houses are in ruins.’”Now, you women, hear the word of the Lord; open your ears to the words of his mouth. Teach your daughters how to wail; teach one another a lament. (niv)

you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon: How the oppressor has come to an end! How his fury has ended!The Lord has broken the rod of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers, (niv)
