This is what the Lord says:“ See how the waters are rising in the north; they will become an overflowing torrent. They will overflow the land and everything in it, the towns and those who live in them. The people will cry out; all who dwell in the land will wail

耶和华如此说：“有水从北方发起，成为涨溢的河，要涨过遍地和其中所有的，并城和其中所住的。人必呼喊；境内的居民都必哀号。

『永恆主這麼說：看吧，有水從北方湧起，成為氾濫的溪河；諸水必氾濫、漫過遍地和其中所有的，以及眾城市和住於其中的居民；人必哀呼喊叫，境內居民都必哀號。

耶和華云、有水自北方湧出、將成汎濫之河、淹沒斯土、與其所有、及厥城邑居民、眾皆哀哭、境內諸民號咷、

耶和華曰、大河自北至、勢若洪濤、泛濫斯土、諸邑民人、盡遭淹沒、號呼哭泣不已。

主如是云、水自北至、成為漲溢之河、泛濫斯地、淹沒其上所有、淹沒城邑與其居民、人俱號呼、居民哀哭、

The Lord said,“ The armies of Babylon are like waters rising in the north. They will become a great flood. They will flow over the land and everything in it. They will flow over the towns and those who live in them. The people will cry out. All those who live in the land will weep.

“ Thus says the Lord: Behold, waters are rising out of the north, and shall become an overflowing torrent; they shall overflow the land and all that fills it, the city and those who dwell in it. Men shall cry out, and every inhabitant of the land shall wail.

This is what the Lord says:“ A flood is coming from the north to overflow the land. It will destroy the land and everything in it— cities and people alike. People will scream in terror, and everyone in the land will wail.

This is what the LORD says: Look, water is rising from the north and becoming an overflowing wadi. It will overflow the land and everything in it, the cities and their inhabitants. The people will cry out, and every inhabitant of the land will wail.

This is what the Lord says:“ Behold, waters are going to rise from the north And become an overflowing torrent, And overflow the land and everything that is in it, The city and those who live in it; And the people will cry out, And every inhabitant of the land will wail.

Thus says the Lord:“ Behold, waters rise out of the north, And shall be an overflowing flood; They shall overflow the land and all that is in it, The city and those who dwell within; Then the men shall cry, And all the inhabitants of the land shall wail.

Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall become an overflowing stream, and shall overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and them that dwell therein; and the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail.

“ Look! Enemies are gathering in the north like water rising in a river. They will be like an overflowing stream. They will overwhelm the whole country and everything in it like a flood. They will overwhelm the cities and their inhabitants. People will cry out in alarm. Everyone living in the country will cry out in pain.

Yahweh says:“ Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and will become an overflowing stream, and will overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and those who dwell therein. The men will cry, and all the inhabitants of the land will wail.

“ Egypt is a beautiful heifer, but a gadfly is coming against her from the north.

therefore the Lord is about to bring against them the mighty floodwaters of the Euphrates— the king of Assyria with all his pomp. It will overflow all its channels, run over all its banksand sweep on into Judah, swirling over it, passing through it and reaching up to the neck. Its outspread wings will cover the breadth of your land, Immanuel!”

The snorting of the enemy’s horses is heard from Dan; at the neighing of their stallions the whole land trembles. They have come to devour the land and everything in it, the city and all who live there.

Dibon goes up to its temple, to its high places to weep; Moab wails over Nebo and Medeba. Every head is shaved and every beard cut off.In the streets they wear sackcloth; on the roofs and in the public squares they all wail, prostrate with weeping.Heshbon and Elealeh cry out, their voices are heard all the way to Jahaz. Therefore the armed men of Moab cry out, and their hearts are faint.My heart cries out over Moab; her fugitives flee as far as Zoar, as far as Eglath Shelishiyah. They go up the hill to Luhith, weeping as they go; on the road to Horonaim they lament their destruction.

The Lord said to me,“ From the north disaster will be poured out on all who live in the land.

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it.

Their outcry echoes along the border of Moab; their wailing reaches as far as Eglaim, their lamentation as far as Beer Elim.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;

From the west, people will fear the name of the Lord, and from the rising of the sun, they will revere his glory. For he will come like a pent-up flood that the breath of the Lord drives along.

Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river, to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent.But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth.

“ How shattered she is! How they wail! How Moab turns her back in shame! Moab has become an object of ridicule, an object of horror to all those around her.”

Cries of anguish arise from Horonaim, cries of great havoc and destruction.Moab will be broken; her little ones will cry out.They go up the hill to Luhith, weeping bitterly as they go; on the road down to Horonaim anguished cries over the destruction are heard.

Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.

This is the message the Lord spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about the coming of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to attack Egypt:

Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you.

If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.

Wail, you gate! Howl, you city! Melt away, all you Philistines! A cloud of smoke comes from the north, and there is not a straggler in its ranks.

But if someone says to you,“ This has been offered in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, both for the sake of the one who told you and for the sake of conscience.

but with an overwhelming flood he will make an end of Nineveh; he will pursue his foes into the realm of darkness.

“ On that day,” declares the Lord,“ a cry will go up from the Fish Gate, wailing from the New Quarter, and a loud crash from the hills.Wail, you who live in the market district; all your merchants will be wiped out, all who trade with silver will be destroyed.

Then an overwhelming army will be swept away before him; both it and a prince of the covenant will be destroyed.

Then the angel said to me,“ The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages.

The Lord, the Lord Almighty— he touches the earth and it melts, and all who live in it mourn; the whole land rises like the Nile, then sinks like the river of Egypt;he builds his lofty palace in the heavens and sets its foundation on the earth; he calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out over the face of the land— the Lord is his name.

One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me,“ Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits by many waters.

I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line; hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie, and water will overflow your hiding place.

Therefore I said,“ Turn away from me; let me weep bitterly. Do not try to console me over the destruction of my people.”The Lord, the Lord Almighty, has a day of tumult and trampling and terror in the Valley of Vision, a day of battering down walls and of crying out to the mountains.

for,“ The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.”

“ The swift cannot flee nor the strong escape. In the north by the River Euphrates they stumble and fall.“ Who is this that rises like the Nile, like rivers of surging waters?Egypt rises like the Nile, like rivers of surging waters. She says,‘ I will rise and cover the earth; I will destroy cities and their people.’

A prophecy against the Valley of Vision: What troubles you now, that you have all gone up on the roofs,
