主曰、我觀其喪膽退後、勇士潰敗、急於奔逃、並不回顧、四望驚惶、何故也、

What do I see? They are terrified, they are retreating, their warriors are defeated. They flee in haste without looking back, and there is terror on every side,” declares the Lord.

尼尼微像個水池！都是水啊，她！其人民都在流亡出來呢！有聲音喊着說：『站住！站住！』卻沒有人轉臉回顧。

我聽見了許多人的讒誹；四圍盡是恐怖！『告發他！我們要告發他！』我的一切盟友，那些等着瞧我顛沛的說：『或者他被誘騙，我們就能勝過他，而在他身上得報復。』

原來主早已使亞蘭人的軍兵聽見車聲馬聲和大軍的聲音；他們就彼此說：『啊，這必是以色列王雇了赫人諸王和慕斯利人諸王來攻擊我們的。』所以他們在黃昏時候起來逃跑，撇下他們的帳棚、馬、驢、——營盤都照舊——只顧逃命。

怎麼啦！阿庇斯逃跑了啊！你的雄壯神牛站立不住？因為永恆主把他推倒了！

他當着他們面前向你掄刀時，便要使許多外族之民因你而驚駭，他們的君王必因你而大為震驚；當你仆倒的日子，他們各人都必為自己的性命而息息發顫。

即領了他們出來，一位就說：『逃命吧！不可回頭看望，在這一片平原上、哪裏都不可站住！只要往山上逃跑！免得你被掃滅。』

地上的君王、大官、千夫長、富戶、壯士、和一切為奴的、自主的、都藏在洞窟和山上的磐石裏；向山和磐石說：『倒在我們身上吧，把我們藏起來，好躲避坐寶座者的面目和羔羊的義怒哦。』因為他們遭上帝義怒的大日子到了，誰能站得住呢？

當那日子、埃及人必像婦人一樣；他們必因萬軍之永恆主的掄手、就是他在埃及身上所掄的、來發顫懼怕。

第二天巴施戶珥將耶利米從枷架上放出來，於是耶利米對他說：『永恆主不把你的名叫巴施戶珥，乃叫做四圍恐怖。因為永恆主這麼說：看吧，我必使你和一切友愛你的人都覺得恐怖；他們必倒斃在他們的仇敵刀下，你必親眼看見。我必將猶大人全交在巴比倫王手中；他必使他們流亡到巴比倫去，用刀擊殺他們。
