The mercenaries in her ranks are like fattened calves. They too will turn and flee together, they will not stand their ground, for the day of disaster is coming upon them, the time for them to be punished.

Hired soldiers are in Egypt’s army. They are like fat calves. All of them will turn and run away. They will not hold their positions. The day of trouble is coming on them. The time for them to be punished is near.

Even her hired soldiers in her midst are like fattened calves; yes, they have turned and fled together; they did not stand, for the day of their calamity has come upon them, the time of their punishment.

Egypt’s mercenaries have become like fattened calves. They, too, will turn and run, for it is a day of great disaster for Egypt, a time of great punishment.

降罰之日速至、施報之日將臨、以色列人必知偽先知愚魯、自言感神者顛狂、皆因爾多犯罪惡、大懷怨恨、

殺其諸牛、俱下至屠宰之地、彼遭報之日、受罰之時已至、禍哉禍哉、

亞捫人知大衛必憾之、或作亞捫人見己於大衛前有惡名遣人招募伯利合之亞蘭人、及瑣巴之亞蘭人、步卒二萬、又招募瑪迦王之人一千、多伯人一萬二千、

臥於象牙之床、偃息於榻、自群中取羔以食、由牢間取犢以餐、

彼所謂善者、等諸荊棘、彼所謂正者、同於蒺藜、或作彼之最善義者惟如荊棘彼之最正直者但如蒺藜爾中先知所言之日、即爾受罰之日速至、是時眾俱荒亂、

野牛牛犢與牡牛同遭屠戮、以東之地、被血浸潤、土壤因脂肥澤、

食肥牛而相憾、不如食蔬菜而相愛、

我必使斯民散於敵人前、如東風散草芥、彼遭難之時、我以背向之、不以面向之、○

迨降罰於爾之日、禍患來自遠方之時、爾將何為、向何人而奔逃求救、爾之榮華、榮華或作富有存於何處、

馬奔騰、車狂馳、勇武之士悉出、古實人、弗弗又作富特人、俱執干戈、路得族俱善挽弓、或作馬奔騰車狂馳勇武之士悉出執干之古實人弗人善於挽弓之路得族亦出

惟爾迦勒底民、曾刼奪我業、欣喜歡樂、踴躍若踐穀之犢、鳴嘶若馬、

爾之壯士、緣何沖沒沖沒或作傾仆而不能立、因主驅逐之故也、多人顛仆、自相蹂躪、乃曰、莫若歸本國、返故土、以避兇暴之鋒刃、

因爾心懷永恨、以色列族緣罪受報、遭患難之時、爾則付之於刃、

巴西人、路得人、弗弗又作富特人、在爾行伍、為爾武士、於爾中懸干與盔、使爾顯榮、亞發人與爾軍旅、四周守爾城垣、迦末人迦末人或作勇士守爾戍樓、俱於爾城垣四周、懸其干盾、成全爾美、

鋒刃臨於伊及、伊及人被戮、古實人恐懼、民眾被擄、基址見毀、古實、弗、弗又作呂彼亞路得、路得又作呂底亞與各邦客兵、及古巴人、以及同盟諸國之人、俱與伊及人偕亡於刃、主如是云、助伊及者、俱必傾仆、伊及之驕傲必卑降、自密奪至敘以尼、其中人民俱亡於刃、此乃主天主所言、

耶書崙胖奔踶不馴、其身肥腯為脂所蒙、遂違棄造之之天主、救之之主彼竟藐視、
