彼以金募壯士、俱若肥牛、災害既臨、敗北而遁、不能禦敵。

The mercenaries in her ranks are like fattened calves. They too will turn and flee together, they will not stand their ground, for the day of disaster is coming upon them, the time for them to be punished.

Hired soldiers are in Egypt’s army. They are like fat calves. All of them will turn and run away. They will not hold their positions. The day of trouble is coming on them. The time for them to be punished is near.

Even her hired soldiers in her midst are like fattened calves; yes, they have turned and fled together; they did not stand, for the day of their calamity has come upon them, the time of their punishment.

Egypt’s mercenaries have become like fattened calves. They, too, will turn and run, for it is a day of great disaster for Egypt, a time of great punishment.

原来，主使亚兰人听见大队人马和战车的声音。他们以为以色列王雇用了赫人的诸王和埃及人的诸王来攻营，

可是，我看见的是什么呢？他们惊慌后退，勇士败逃，不敢回头，惊恐不安。这是耶和华说的。

我子民遭难的日子，你不该闯进他们的城；他们遭难的日子，你不该幸灾乐祸；他们遭难的日子，你不该趁火打劫；

但耶和华嗤笑邪恶人，因为祂知道他们末日将临。

以色列人受惩罚的日子近了，遭报应的时候到了！这点你们要知道。你们罪恶深重，充满憎恨，以致你们说：“先知是傻瓜，被灵感动的人是疯子。”

你们要杀掉她所有的士兵，把他们全部屠杀。他们大祸临头了，惩罚他们的日子到了。

亚扪人知道得罪了大卫，便派人到伯·利合和琐巴招募了两万名亚兰步兵、玛迦王的一千人和一万二千名陀伯人。

你们躺在象牙床上，靠在卧榻上，你们吃养在圈里的肥嫩牛羊。

他们当中最好的不过是蒺藜，最正直的也不过是荆棘篱笆。你们的守望者所说的日子，就是你们受惩罚的日子已经来到。你们必惊慌失措。

他们像野牛、牛犊和公牛一样倒下。他们的土地被血浸透，土壤被脂肪覆盖。

粗茶淡饭但彼此相爱，胜过美酒佳肴却互相憎恨。

我要在敌人面前驱散他们，就像东风吹散尘土一样。在他们遭难的时候，我必以背相向，不理睬他们。”

在惩罚的日子，当灾祸从远方临到你们头上时，你们怎么办？你们能跑到谁那里去求救呢？你们能把财物藏在哪里呢？

战马奔驰吧！战车疾驶吧！勇士啊，就是那些手拿盾牌的古实人和弗人以及箭法娴熟的吕底亚人啊，出战吧！

“抢夺我产业的巴比伦人啊，你们欢喜快乐，像草场上欢跳的母牛犊，又像嘶鸣的公马。

你们的勇士为何扑倒？他们无法坚立，因为耶和华击倒了他们，使他们跌跌绊绊，纷纷倒下。他们说，‘起来，我们回到同胞那里，回到故乡吧，好躲避敌人的刀剑。’

因为你永怀仇恨，在以色列人遭遇危难、因罪恶受尽刑罚的时候，把他们交在刀下。

“‘你军队中的战士有波斯人、路德人、弗人，他们在你的墙上挂起盾牌和头盔，展示你的光彩。亚发人和你的军队都守卫在你的城墙上，歌玛底人把守你的城楼，他们都在墙上挂满盾牌，使你完美无瑕。

必有刀剑攻击埃及，埃及必尸横遍野，古实必痛苦不堪。敌人要掳掠埃及的财富，摧毁她的根基。古实、弗、路德、阿拉伯和利比亚以及她的其他盟友都必与她一同死于刀下。’“耶和华说，‘埃及的盟友都要覆灭，埃及的傲气必荡然无存，从密夺到色弗尼的居民都要丧身刀下。这是主耶和华说的。
