你哪能比挪亞們強呢？挪亞們坐落在尼羅河流之間，周圍有水；海做她的外郭水做她的城牆？古實和埃及是她的力量，就是無窮盡的；弗人和路比族是她的助手。然而她卻成了流亡人、被擄到外國去了；她的嬰孩在各街頭上被摔死了；人為她的尊貴人拈鬮，她所有的大官都被鎖鍊鎖着。

『猶大悲哀，她的城門衰敗，人都披上黑衣坐在地上哀悼；耶路撒冷的哀號聲直往上升。

輕快的也逃跑不了，英勇的也不能逃脫；就在北方伯拉河邊都絆跌仆倒。

我必激動埃及人去攻擊埃及人，他們就打起仗來，各人攻打自己的族弟兄，各人攻打自己的鄰舍，城攻打城，國攻打國；

『希實本和以利亞利哀呼，達到雅雜；他們發出聲音，從瑣珥達到何羅念、第三伊基拉；因為寧林的水也必淒涼乾涸。

『我帶你做俘虜於列國中，到你所不認識的列邦，那時我必使許多外族之民的心、因你而很難過。他當着他們面前向你掄刀時，便要使許多外族之民因你而驚駭，他們的君王必因你而大為震驚；當你仆倒的日子，他們各人都必為自己的性命而息息發顫。因為主永恆主這麼說：巴比倫王的刀必攻擊你。我必藉着勇士的刀使你的眾民仆倒：這些勇士都是列國中的強橫人：『他們必毁滅埃及所驕矜的，使埃及的眾民都消滅掉。

永恆主發神諭說：『當那日必有哀叫的聲音從魚門發出，必有哀號聲從第二區出來，有極大的破毁聲從眾山丘傳開。

你們只好屈身於俘虜之下，仆倒於被殺之人下面。雖有這一切，永恆主的怒氣還未轉消；他的手仍然伸着。

未曾死的人都被鼠疫疱擊打；那城呼救聲上達於天。

『聽啊，有哀呼聲從巴比倫出來！有大破毁的聲浪從迦勒底人之地發出呢！

我的心為了摩押而哀呼；他的逃民逃到瑣珥，伊基拉、施利施亞；他們由魯希的上坡哭着哭着上去；在何羅念的路上他們激起了毁滅的哀呼聲。因為寧林水荒蕪淒涼；青草枯乾，嫩草滅沒，青綠之物、一無所有。故此摩押人所得的財富、所積聚的資產、他們都運過楊柳樹河。哀叫聲傳遍了摩押四境；其哀號聲達到以基蓮；其哀號聲達到比珥以琳。

因他們仆倒的響聲，地就震動；有哀叫聲，其響聲在蘆葦海也聽得到。
