Should you then seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them. For I will bring disaster on all people, declares the Lord, but wherever you go I will let you escape with your life.’”

But as for you, do you pursue great things for yourself? Stop pursuing! For I am about to bring disaster on all humanity”— this is the LORD’s declaration—“ but I will grant you your life like the spoils of war wherever you go.”’”

爾惟我是賴、我手援爾、救爾生命、免於鋒刃、我耶和華已言之矣。

凡居斯邑者、必遇鋒刃饑饉、瘟疫而亡。凡出邑外、歸誠所攻爾之迦勒底人者、則得保其生命。

其言曰、仍居邑中者、必戮以鋒刃、因以饑饉、重以疫癘、惟出邑歸誠迦勒底人者、生命可保。

意宜同、志勿高、惟謙是從、勿智是恃、

務絕貪婪、以己所有為足、上帝曰、吾不須臾遐棄爾、

然敬虔知足、則利莫大焉、我出世無所制攜來、逝世無所攜去、此理昭然、衣食足、當知止、苟圖富有、陷誘惑、罹羅網、溺於無理有害之欲、終必沉淪、

北方諸王、無間遐邇、爰及天下列邦、厥後示殺王、亦飲斯爵。

我語汝、勿慮生何以食、何以飲、身何以衣、生非大於糧、身不大於衣乎、試觀飛鳥不稼不穡、無積無廩、天父且養之、爾豈不貴於鳥乎、爾曹誰能以思慮延命一刻乎、曷為衣服慮耶、試思野有百合花、如何而長、不勞不紡、我語汝、當所羅門榮華之極、其衣不及此花之一、且夫野草、今日尚存、明日投爐、上帝猶衣被之若此、況爾小信者乎、故勿慮何以食、何以飲、何以衣、此皆異邦人所求、天父知爾需之、

上帝乃鑒觀斯世、億兆喪心、行為邪僻。

蓋我耶和華降罰億兆、使蹈鋒刃、罹火災、殺戮者不可勝數、

曰彼下車迓爾之時、我心非與爾同在乎。此時豈可受人所饋、或金、或衣、以售橄欖圃、葡萄園、牛羊僕婢乎。

我意今時之災、惟守我素為美、蓋既娶勿棄、未娶勿求、娶無尤、嫁亦無尤、但若輩身遭難吾不復爾責、兄弟乎、吾言今而後、窘逼之時也、故有妻者、當如無妻、哭者、當如無哭、喜者、當如無喜、買者、當如無得、享世勿過度、蓋變遷者世故、我欲爾無所慮、無妻者慮主之事、如何悅主、

耶和華云、我有定命、和集列邦、憤怒奮發、氣燄殊張、殲滅天下、我既勃興、降此刑譴、爾當祈求、
