昔於猶大國、耶路撒冷逵衢爾列祖作惡、猶大王與后亦然、爾與爾妻、更無不然、爾豈忘之乎。

爾列祖之惡事、猶大列王之惡事、其后妃之惡事、爾曹之惡事、及爾妻之惡事、在猶大地、在耶路撒冷街衢所作者、爾豈忘之乎、

Have you forgotten the wickedness committed by your ancestors and by the kings and queens of Judah and the wickedness committed by you and your wives in the land of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem?

Have you forgotten the evil things done by your people of long ago? The kings and queens of Judah did those same things. So did you and your wives. They were done in the land of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem.

Have you forgotten the evil of your fathers, the evil of the kings of Judah, the evil of their wives, your own evil, and the evil of your wives, which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

Have you forgotten the sins of your ancestors, the sins of the kings and queens of Judah, and the sins you and your wives committed in Judah and Jerusalem?

Have you forgotten the evils of your ancestors, the evils of Judah’s kings, the evils of their wives, your own evils, and the evils of your wives that were committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, the wickedness of the kings of Judah and the wickedness of their wives, your own wickedness and the wickedness of your wives, which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, the wickedness of the kings of Judah, the wickedness of their wives, your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

Have you forgotten all the wicked things that have been done in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem by your ancestors, by the kings of Judah and their wives, by you and your wives?

他們在猶大城市中和耶路撒冷街上所行的、你沒有看見麼？兒子們撿柴，父老們燒火，婦女們摶麵作祭餅，獻給天后，又向別的神澆奠祭，以惹我發怒。

從前拜巴力毘珥的罪愆、我們還以為是小事麼？雖有疫病襲擊了永恆主的會眾、直到今日我們還未潔淨以脫這罪呢。今日你們竟轉離了永恆主呀？今日你們既背叛了永恆主，明日他就必震怒以色列全會眾了。不過你們所擁為產業之地如果不潔淨，你們儘可以過來永恆主所擁為產業之地、他帳幕所居的地方，在我們中間來擁得產業啊；卻不可背叛永恆主，也不可背棄我們，而在永恆主我們的上帝的祭壇以外、為自己築了祭壇啊。從前謝拉的曾孫亞干豈不是在該被毁滅歸神之物上不忠實，以致有上帝的震怒臨到以色列全會眾麼？那人在他的罪愆中死亡，還不只是他一人而已呢。」』

自從我們列祖的日子到今天、我們的罪過都很大；並且為了我們的罪愆的緣故，我們和我們的王、跟祭司、都被交於四圍各地的列王手中，交於刀劍之下，被擄掠、被搶奪、滿臉蒙羞，正如今日一樣。如今永恆主我們的上帝恩待我們片時，給我們留些逃脫的餘民，使我們牢固如釘子在他的聖所，好使我們的上帝光照我們的眼目，使我們在受奴轄之中稍得復興。我們是奴隸，然而在受奴轄之中、我們的上帝仍然沒有撇棄我們，反而使我們在波斯王面前受得恩寵，使我們得到復興，能夠建立起我們的上帝的殿，重立起它荒廢之處，使我們在猶大和耶路撒冷有個藩籬。『現在呢、我們的上帝啊，這事之後、我們還有甚麼話可說呢？因為我們離棄了你的命令，就是你由你僕人眾神言人經手所吩咐的，說：「你們要去取得為業之地是污穢之地，有四圍各地別族之民的污穢，有他們那可憎惡之事、就是使全地從這邊到那邊都滿了他們那樣的不潔淨的。所以現在呢、不可將你們的女兒嫁給他們的兒子，也不可將他們的女兒娶過來給你們的兒子；你們永遠不可謀求他們的平安興隆與福利，這樣、你們就可以強大，喫這地的美物，也可以留給你們的子孫永遠為業。」因我們的壞行為和大罪過，我們才遭遇了這一切的事，並且我們的上帝你懲罰我們、也輕於我們的罪愆所應得的，又給我們留下這樣的逃脫人；我們哪可再違犯你的命令，跟這些行可憎惡之事的族民彼此結親呢？若這樣行，你豈不向我們發怒，直到我們滅盡，以致沒有一個餘剩之民或逃脫的人麼？永恆主以色列的上帝啊，你是公義的，我們才得以剩下來做逃脫的人，就如今日一樣。看哪，我們在你面前有罪過了，因此在你面前沒有人對於這事能站立得住。』

『你們和你們列祖、你們的王和首領、以及國中之民、在猶大城市和耶路撒冷街上所燒的燻祭，永恆主哪能不記得，那事哪能不湧上他心頭呢？

我們犯罪作孽，行惡背叛，偏離了你的誡命典章；我們也沒有聽從你僕人、眾神言人們、那些奉你名向我們的王和首領跟父老及國中眾民說了話的人。主啊，你是對的，是我們滿面蒙羞，正如今日一樣；慚愧的是猶大人，是耶路撒冷居民，是以色列眾人、無論近處或遠處、在你趕逐他們到之各地的，都因他們對你表現了不忠實。永恆主啊，是我們滿臉蒙羞：慚愧的是我們的王、和首領跟父老，因為我們犯罪得罪了你。

於是那些知道自己的妻子曾向別的神燻祭的眾人、和那些站在那裏的眾婦女、一大羣大眾、以及那些住埃及地、巴忒羅的眾民、就回答耶利米說：『你奉永恆主的名對我們說的話，我們不聽你。我們一定要實行我們口中所說出的一切話：向天后燻祭，澆奠祭，按着我們和我們列祖、我們的王和首領在猶大城市和耶路撒冷街上素常所行的一樣；那時我們喫飽飯，享福樂，不見災禍呀。自從我們停止了向天后燻祭、澆奠祭，我們倒缺乏了一切，又因刀劍饑荒而滅絕了。』婦女們說：『我們向天后燻祭，澆奠祭，難道沒有我們丈夫的同意就作天后像的祭餅去供奉她，向她澆奠祭麼？』
