But listen to the Lord’ s message. Listen, all you Jews living in Egypt.‘ I make a promise by my own great name,’ says the Lord.‘ Here is what I promise.“ No one from Judah who lives anywhere in Egypt will ever again pray in my name. None of them will ever make this promise. They will never say,‘ You can be sure that the Lord and King is alive.’ ”

住在埃及的猶大人啊，你們都要聽耶和華的話。耶和華說，『看啊，我以自己偉大的名起誓，再沒有一個住在埃及的猶大人會憑永活的主耶和華起誓。

但所有住在埃及地的猶大人哪，你們要聽耶和華的話！耶和華說：‘看哪！我指著我偉大的名起誓：在埃及全地每一個猶大人的口中，再不會呼喚我的名，說：我指著永活的主耶和華起誓。

故此住埃及地所有的猶大人哪，你們要聽永恆主的話哦：永恆主說，看吧，我指着我的大名來起誓：在埃及全地我的名必不再被猶大族任何人的口稱呼說：「我指着永活的主永恆主來起誓。」

居埃及地之猶大人、其聽耶和華言、耶和華曰、我已指我大名而誓、凡居埃及之猶大人、後必無一人、口道我名曰、我指維生之主耶和華而誓、

今爾曹宜聽我耶和華言、我指己而誓、必不使居埃及之猶大人崇事我、稱我大名、

今爾曹居伊及之眾猶大人、宜聽主言、主曰、我指己之大名而誓、遍伊及所有之猶大人、不使其一人復稱我名曰、我指主耶和華永生而誓云、

But hear the word of the Lord, all you Jews living in Egypt:‘ I swear by my great name,’ says the Lord,‘ that no one from Judah living anywhere in Egypt will ever again invoke my name or swear,“ As surely as the Sovereign Lord lives.”

Therefore hear the word of the Lord, all you of Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: Behold, I have sworn by my great name, says the Lord, that my name shall no more be invoked by the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying,‘ As the Lord God lives.’

“ But listen to this message from the Lord, all you Judeans now living in Egypt:‘ I have sworn by my great name,’ says the Lord,‘ that my name will no longer be spoken by any of the Judeans in the land of Egypt. None of you may invoke my name or use this oath:“ As surely as the Sovereign Lord lives.”

“ Therefore, hear the word of the LORD, all you Judeans who live in the land of Egypt:‘ I have sworn by my great name, says the LORD, that my name will never again be invoked by anyone of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying,“ As the Lord GOD lives.”

In return, hear the word of the Lord, all Judah who are living in the land of Egypt:‘ Behold, I have sworn by My great name,’ says the Lord,‘ that My name shall never be invoked again by the mouth of anyone of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying,“ As the Lord God lives.”

Therefore hear the word of the Lord, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt:‘ Behold, I have sworn by My great name,’ says the Lord,‘ that My name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying,“ The Lord GOD lives.”

Therefore hear ye the word of Jehovah, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt: Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith Jehovah, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, As the Lord Jehovah liveth.

“ Therefore, hear the word of the Lord, all you Judeans who live in the land of Egypt:‘ I have sworn by My great name, says Yahweh, that My name will never again be invoked by anyone of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying,“ As the Lord God lives.”

Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.

But listen to what the LORD has to say, all you people of Judah who are living in the land of Egypt. The LORD says,‘ I hereby swear by my own great name that none of the people of Judah who are living anywhere in Egypt will ever again invoke my name in their oaths! Never again will any of them use it in an oath saying,“ As surely as the Lord GOD lives….”

“ Therefore hear Yahweh’s word, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt:‘ Behold, I have sworn by my great name,’ says Yahweh,‘ that my name will no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying,“ As the Lord Yahweh lives.”

But here is what God says to a sinful person.“ What right do you have to speak the words of my laws? How dare you speak the words of my covenant!

He said,“ I am giving you my word that I will bless you. I will bless you because of what you have done,” announces the Lord.“ You have not held back your son, your only son.

“‘ “People of Israel, the Lord and King says,‘ Go, every one of you! Serve your gods. But later you will listen to me. You will no longer treat my name as if it were not holy. You will not offer sacrifices to other gods anymore.

When God made his promise to Abraham, God gave his word. There was no one greater than himself to promise by. So he promised by making an appeal to himself.

The Lord and King has made a promise in his own name. He is the Lord God who rules over all. He announces,“ I hate the pride of Jacob’s people. I can’t stand their forts. I will hand the city of Samaria and everything in it over to their enemies.”

Make all your promises in my name. When you promise say,‘ You can be sure that the Lord is alive.’ Be truthful, fair and honest when you make these promises. Then the nations will ask for blessings from me. And they will boast about me.”

They make their promises in my name. They say,‘ You can be sure that the Lord is alive.’ But their promises can’t be trusted.”

People of Jacob, listen to me. You are called by the name of Israel. You come from the family line of Judah. You make promises in the name of the Lord. You pray to Israel’s God. But you aren’t honest. You don’t mean what you say.You call yourselves citizens of the holy city of Jerusalem. You say you depend on Israel’s God. His name is the Lord Who Rules Over All. He says,

The Lord has made a promise. He has lifted up his right hand and mighty arm. He has promised,“ I will never give your grain to your enemies for food again. Outsiders will never again drink the fresh wine you have worked so hard for.

I raise my hand to heaven. Here is the promise I make. You can be sure that I live forever.And you can be just as sure that I will sharpen my flashing sword. My hand will hold it when I judge. I will get even with my enemies. I will pay back those who hate me.I will make my arrows drip with blood. My sword will destroy people. It will kill some. It will even kill prisoners. It will cut off the heads of enemy leaders.”

“ I am the King. My name is the Lord Who Rules Over All. Someone will come who is like Mount Tabor among the mountains. He is like Mount Carmel by the Mediterranean Sea. And that is just as sure as I am alive,” announces the King.

I will not break my covenant. I will not go back on my word.

People of Jacob, you are proud that the Lord is your God. But he has made a promise in his own name. He says,“ I will never forget anything Israel has done.

You can be sure that I live. You can be just as sure that my glory fills the whole earth.And here is what you can be just as sure of. Not one of these people will see the land I promised to give them. They have seen my glory. They have seen the signs I did in Egypt. And they have seen what I did in the desert. But they did not obey me. And they have tested me ten times.So not even one of them will ever see the land I promised to give to their people of long ago. The person who has not respected me will never see it.

“ I will reach out my powerful hand against Judah. I will punish all those who live in Jerusalem. I will destroy from this place what is left of Baal worship. The priests who serve other gods will be removed.I will destroy those who bow down on their roofs to worship all the stars. I will destroy those who make promises not only in my name but also in the name of Molek.

God promised that those people would never enjoy the rest he planned for them. God gave his word when he made that promise. Didn’t he make that promise to those who didn’t obey?

When God made his promise, he gave his word. He did this so we would have good reason not to give up. Instead, we have run to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope is set before us in God’s promise. So God made his promise and gave his word. These two things can’t change. He couldn’t lie about them.

“‘ “You continue to steal and commit murder. You commit adultery. You tell lies in court. You burn incense to Baal. You worship other gods you didn’t know before.

So tell them,‘ Here is what I am announcing. I am the Lord. You can be sure that I live. And here is what you can be just as sure of. I will do to you the very thing that I heard you say.

But suppose you do not obey these commands,” announces the Lord.“ Then I promise you that this palace will be destroyed. You can be as sure of this promise as you are sure that I live.” ’ ”

Relatives might come to burn the dead bodies. If they do, they’ll have to carry them out of the house first. They might ask someone still hiding there,“ Is anyone else here with you?” If the answer is no, the relatives will go on to say,“ Be quiet! We must not pray in the Lord’ s name.”
