耶和华说：“你们用话顶撞我。”你们却说：“我们说了什么话顶撞你呢？”你们说：“事奉神是枉然，我们遵守神所吩咐的，在万军之耶和华面前哀痛而行，有什么益处呢？现在，我们称狂傲的人为有福，并且行恶的人得以建立；他们虽然试探神，却得以逃脱。”

我们记得在埃及的时候，不花钱就可以吃鱼，还有黄瓜、西瓜、韭菜、葱、蒜。现在我们的精力枯干了。除了这吗哪以外，在我们眼前什么都没有。”

所有的犹大人就从被赶到的各处回来，到犹大地米斯巴的基大利那里。他们积蓄了许多的酒，并夏天的果子。

他们对神说：‘离开我们吧！我们不想知道你的道路。全能者是谁，我们何必事奉他呢？求告他有什么益处呢？’

他们的口亵渎上天，他们的舌毁谤全地。所以他的百姓归到这里，享受满杯的水。他们说：“神怎能晓得？至高者哪会知道呢？”看哪，这就是恶人，他们常享安逸，财宝增多。我实在徒然洁净了我的心，徒然洗手表明我的无辜，因为我终日遭灾难，每日早晨受惩治。我若说“我要这样讲”，就是愧对这世代的众儿女了。
